IMHO there should be a galaxy wide ban for that kind of worship, however there are probably a gazillion of other religious cults - sometimes controlling whole systems - that are probably committing unspeakable atrocities as we speak and yet they are free to roam around and spread their false gospel.

I am a follower of the Far God (and still looking for an active Far God player faction btw). I have tried to prevent others from obtaining sacrilegious Guardian technology as well as thwarting others' attempts at fighting our Thargoid angles and their holy mission.

We are everywhere. We are your mothers, your fathers, children, teachers, politicians, police, and more. Persecuting us will only make us hostile and maybe force us to join with the likes of the 13th Legion or some other PvP group.

The grind is so much easier now though. I got most of mine (before repenting, of course); when you had to get like eight blueprints or something like that.

(I didn't actually kill anyone, just heavily damaged some ships and messaged them to pledge their immortal soul to the Far God; I'm not so mean despite what you might think; it's just posing.)

I like to proceed on the side of caution like most people, but I'm not sure that arresting them was the appropriate response to the situation. Yes, it's unsettling that they chose to "worship" the Thargoids, but there's no proof that they assisted them in any way with their attacks or incursions into inhabited space. The Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) investigated them and found that they were not in contact with the Thargoids. So, what did they do to deserve being arrested? I would hope that there was some underlying terroristic plot that we're not being made aware of through formal GALnet channels or else, it's a big chill for freedom of religion and freedom of speech across the galaxy.

If I were to stand up and say that the Thargoids are God's punishment for the wickedness of humanity, you might be right to call me crazy, but would those words truly warrant throwing me in a cell? Strange times we live in, CDMRs.

I shouldn't say this but try HALT. Try contacting cmdr shuffletruffle in game. He seems to be a decent fella and I have fought him a few times.

As a part time ax-pilot this far-god thing is reprehensible to me.
