Thargoids attack Mega Ships!

I can't believe that no one has pointed this out, but it was a Aegis ship... Aegis being the faction that's experimenting on the living alien probes and making anti-thargoid weapons. That makes it a valid military target.
It was far from a peaceful, civilian vessel.

Attacked megaships on fire off the shoulder of Orion ...

Agree, where's Kent Brockman talking calmly about our insect overlords when you need him

Pathetic is a touch harsh though.

I guess the whole Galnet team got murdered by Thargoid infiltrators? Mega Fail Fdev. News on Galnet from all over the bubble should pour in like crazy right now to hype the start of the invasion. It's only text for god's sake it's not like you have to start a corporate project for every news item. I really love Fdev's work but this is pathetic.

Not only Mega Ships, players been attacked too. I just got interdicted and attacked in 5 sec. Here is a video:

Let's be friends with the Thargoids!

Joking aside, there ARE multiple factions/clans. I've seen fursthand at least three different markings on these vessels we're encountering.

One of these clans, if not two or more could potentially help us combat the malevolent one.

We could be wasting a really cool oportunity if we continue blindly hunting these creatures down.

There's got to be some sort of correlation between which vessels are and aren't attacking - including any grey area therein - and the markings that are displayed on their "hulls".

Be vigilant, CMDRs. 07

Those don't seem to be clan markings. Those are variants (which the scanner oddly enough calls them variants) which have different characteristics, as well as weapons.

How do we know it was a Thargoid who did it? It could have been a Fed/Empire capital ship. And before you say, "They would have no reason to." it would be more correct to say "They would have no reason that we know of. You think the Empire, Feds, and even the Alliance tells the general population everything? If so, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!!!!!

It's the NWO! It's all a conspiracy! The government are really shapeshifting bugs and they're trying to control us with subliminal messages hidden in the Lavian Brandy adverts!

Joking aside, I don't think the Federation, Empire and Alliance are trying to kill us all, no. There 'could' be infiltrators but I doubt they've retrofitted our Capital Ships with Thargoid weapons and replaced the crew with Ammonia based bugs, then killed themselves in so many locations we've all seen?

Until anything happens, it's good to keep an open mind but probably not advisable to declare war on the human race to save the human race. There's certainly something 'shady' going on when you visit all the abandoned ground settlements so who knows... Perhaps there could be some kind of civil war in the future as the story unfolds

I've seen A LOT of different markings.

Like at LEAST 4-5 now. One of them has an inner circle "C" shaped marking that is unmistakably similar to the markings on the barnacles.

The two Thargoids who were pulling pods from the fed cap ship wreck next door definately looked shifty to me - didn't like me taking the pods out from under their noses either.
Too bad for them, gave them a volley of AX rockets up the wazoo and turned and burned with all cargo secured (best fun in the game for ages, it's like taking candy from a bug).

Just found a Thomas Class Bulk Cargo Ship DFX-056 at Pleiades Sector IH-V C2-5. Thargoid sure are making a mess.

Edit: Oops, just noticed Teldga already found it...

You joke, but more than a few dead megaships prior to 2.4 were killed by the Feds, along with several planetside research settlements. The feds killing civilians to cover things up would be nothing new.

But the idea of Feds testing proto-type weapons aside... We know there are two Thargoid factions, and I'd guess the ones we see there scanning are NOT the ones that killed the ship. They seem to be looking for clues, rather than attacking things.
