A war with the Thargoid people would be a great waste of time especially with war on the horizon already and our resources as a specie would be very limited and so the Thargoids would be able to easily destroy us which is one of the reasons I believe peace is a more viable solution to this so called 'Alien Threat'. The Thargoids have been known to be very pro-war beings but after being forced into submission maybe we will be able to find a more peaceful alternative when it comes to their arrival so then maybe we can help each other and develop united, then once we have their trust we maybe able to be allowed access to their superior technology, knowledge and wisdom, and maybe even some day, be allowed to use Raxxla's universal portals.
But these are just my views on the situation and I would like to see yours.

Too many people on here already complain about the NPCs killing them, why would you want to add aliens to that list? It would be essentially doubling the interdictions and whining.

I say, align with them, be friends, utilize their technology to better our way of life.

There can be no peace with the Thargoids. They killed too many of my buddies in the '80s. When they arrive don't expect a warm welcome or gestures of friendship. Kill them!

I've fought the Thargoids. They're as hard as nails, but they're not unbeatable. Hopefully if we fight them, we can scavenge their tech. Just be prepared for being pulled from witch space.

If not being fired upon, i will certainly treat them with full respect. I am all for a peaceful first contact and a good relationship between humans and thargoids. I would even defend them against hostile humans without any doubts...

I'm actually hoping they'll show themselves while we are at war. While we are engaged with each other in conflict, they pop in and cause a ruckus. :)

I am a Myrmidion and will gladly throw myself into the fire if it meant keeping us from entering all out war. I am not opposed to eventual war, as the operation of Thargoid heirarchy is very tumultuous and always in flux. I would rather have a period of tense peace where we could gleam some of their tech directly from them instead of trying to reverse engineer a cheap copy before the pretty much inevitable conflict/war.

Would be cool imo if one of the very last Engineers was a defected Thargoid who gave you access to a swath of their insane tech.

Yes, think about the time we wasted with reloading our save game because they destroyed us. We'll show them!

I think peace is the best option, but it's not just what we want. I would say try to make peace with them, but have your blaster ready to hand just in case. Supposedly they are an insectoid race. They don't think like we do. War might be a way of life for them (I hope not, but I'm not willing to ascribe human motivations to a species we know nothing about). I would prefer peaceful relations, but that just might not be possible.

There's just no way that Frontier has been quietly dropping hints and putting all this work into the UA/UP/Barnacle mysteries to just...implement a new species to do trade runs with. There will be war, I have no doubt. Though I agree that a mixture of behavior between the different Thargoid sub-species would be very cool!

In a First Contact scenario, I think the least we could do is offer them a Friendship Drive charge.
... but I'm not hopeful about the eventual outcome. Winter War is coming.
