Thargoids React to ancient artefacts violently

So it turns out if you have an ancient artefact in your ship for too long when they scan you they'll shoot at you, equally if you jettison it they will turn red and shoot the artefact.

Unfortunately i didn't get any images or videos of it as i wasn't really expecting it and it happened really quick, but i think more experimentation is needed

They also shoot at you if you get too close or stay too long in their vicinity if you are not carrying an ancient relic.
are you sure that their attack has anything to do withyour cargo?

I tried to approach them with an unknown artefact in my cargo but I could not see any change in their behavior.

Well when i jettisoned the artefact it actively attacked the artefact and not me, plus when i held it in my cargo it followed me around until it attacked

that definitely sounds interesting.
I am going to try this with other items (commodities and stuff) and see what happens.
There is already another thread on this forum (with video) where someone jettisons an unknown probe

They also seem to take Thargoid related stuff. (Saw some videos of people dropping UPs in front of them, and the Thargoid would scoop them up.)

I had reilc in bay and Flower got interested and approached. I dropped relic while backing away, it moved up real fast real close and attacked. I ran off and circled back (Courier ftw) but relic was gone. I figured it was picked up, but it could have been destroyed. Subsequently, I did the same trick with the relic. Flowers did look at me if i got close, but unless i attacked first, they didn't care and moved on with the business of scooping the escape pods. I even stole one of the escape pods right from under their noses and they didn't care, nor did they care about it being in my cargo.

Coupled with the evidence of fireworks that Guardian relics cause in Thargoid sites, it would seem that our Flower Insectoid friends don't like Guardian stuff very much. Maybe Thargoids were the beta testers for "Decoding the Ancient Ruins" Ram Tah mission, and are still bitter about it.

Anyone try dive-bombing with a relic, or does cargo not inherit a ship's velocity? Surely these Thargoids have an "exhaust port", perhaps were all their little drones enter and exit. Use the Force, Luke!!
