That Chrome Adder Paintjob

Bought one.

I'm still outside the bubble and many days away from hitting space dock, so total waste of cash :)

But Cmdr Woakes needed a new paintjob for his adder.

Yeah bubbly boil in the bag goodness for the PvP'ers :D

But there seams to be a lack of screenies and a lot of back-chatter from commanders who think this was a wasted "spot" on the Xmas countdown.

Curvey ships don't have wire-frame paints sadly.

I'm a little annoyed at FD for making the cobra chrome skin available again. When I bought mine many many months ago it was a limited edition exclusive (never to be repeated or so I was led to believe) skin costing £10! iirc

It is the Cobra Mk IV in the store

Oh so it is, my bad. Still, if they make it available again for the Cobra MkIII I'll be cutting FD some looks ;)

Even if it was a tenner again?

Sorry but I really don't get the emotional fervour that these limited edition skins seem to provoke and I'm saying that as someone who does have some.

I also don't remember any suggestion in the shop blurb that the now-vanished chrome Vulture, gold Anaconda and gold FDL were ever advertised as limited editions. Note, not mentioning those out of soreness either, I own the chrome Vulture and never wanted the other two but I'm damned if I can remember any reference to them being limited time deals.

I find the paint offerings to have always been pretty inconsistent. It's why I have so many more Viper flag skins than is necessary; though the OG wireframe MKIII seems to have weathered the inconstancy of FD's availability policies.

IDEC what they run as a system (woopdeedoo if someone else gets a wireframe MKIII some point in the future, really, it's pretend spacepaint) but A system and stick with it would be nice. I'd would prefer a full release of limited-offer items after a certain timeframe, both for FD to make sales on older items while still selling new hotness, and for players to get that stuff they missed out on ages ago because they had to pay for the cat's operation. You know as long as FD made stuff available eventually we as a playerbase would buy it.

I will apologize in advance to people who enjoy exclusive items in video games, I know the store idea above limits that aspect for you folks. I see the idea from the perspective of providing the most amount of players with disposable income for a long-term-project game a way to indulge the Pokemon Effect with things from the store. But fear not!

I'd rather instead that a good selection of exclusive cosmetic items such as paintwork and decals could come from PLAYING the game; then your "REAL" pirate skin or hull markings mean you have been a good pirate, and not just skimped on snacks at work for a couple days. Exclusive cosmetics (I'm asking for ship kit pieces in here too while I'm wishing for future stuff >__> ) offered in this manner would make a fun thing to try for, and as they're earned ingame, could have more value gamewise than something you purchased. Earned paintwork would be a form of reputation as well as a game carrot.
