That compass, design classic or something else?

It would be perfect if the outline was purely circular like the other UI elements. It just looks a bit wrong to me with all those little edges. Could be a tad brighter too, but that doesn't bother me.

I'm not criticising it, I'm just saying I'm errr... intrigued. The Compass, to the right of the radar on the control panel, that I assume still indicates the direction to the station... is it me, or does it look a little out of place. I mean, yes, it is quite literally iconic, but it almost looks as if everything else has been polished and glossed, but the Compass has almost been surgically removed from the BBC version, and grafted into place - which is all fine, but I just wondered if there was a conscious decison to leave it (almost) untouched, or if that's just the way its ended up. I'm leaning towards the former, but what do I know?

If anything, I'd like the original Elite scanner back replacing the current version, as it's not as clear or readable... and you can't determine distance at a glance. Even in "linear" mode the object bow around the thing, which is highly non-linear.

Still, David likes the current version so it's a moot argument and no point in discussing.

Well firstly I say don't change its function or remove it.

Possibly update the graphics to make it more in keeping with the rest of the hud but otherwise leave well alone.

1 suggestion is a transparent sphere with a dot on 1 side and a circle on the other.

Whichever is facing you is bolder and when they are lined up they make a complete blob (which will either have a darker centre or darker ring, depending on which way round you are facing)

No argument from me (the OP) about the function.

As I say, I just wondered if its 'unadulterated' appearance is an intentional salute to the original game.
