That horrible moment, when you realise... You're going to be 102.54Ly short.

I'm going around the outside, though.. Going to follow the Sagittarius arm back. I'm entering systems into Eddiscovery, and seeing as no one seems to have gone naywhere near as far (of those mapping with it), I figure I may as well be the one to map out one of the arms...

Z...

Made it. 65115.99Ly from Sol.

Now to follow the spiral arm I'm on back towards civilised space...

Z...

Congrats Z!

I'm not sure if I'll ever have the willpower or the time to travel so far knowing that I'll have to travel all the way back again, so that's an awesome accomplishment.

Glad that your jump range didn’t stop you. :)

Did you make it across the gap onto the Sagittarius Arm, or did you need to take the long way around?

Sorry it won't let me rep you again just yet, I'll be back after spreading some love. ;)

I sort of jumped the gap - I do have enough jump range to jump it - just, though my route took me to an area that has what seems like an easier route. There is a patht hat is slightly more dense with stars between the Sagittarius arm and the Scutum-crux arm - it's about 7000Ly "to the right" from centre, looking "top down" so to speak. I'll grab the co-ordinates when I'm online next. I say sort of because I started off using it, and end up just jumping the gap whilst searching for neutrons.

It looks like a 30Ly jump range is actually enough to jump it, what I notice a lot though, is that with a jump range below about 34, once you start getting close to the far edge of the Sagittarius arm, you just end up doing a lot of very "round the block" flying. the routes you end up take often have you jumping 100Ly+ to achieve 35Ly as the crow floats, so to speak. I'll try and follow my route back, but if I map it, and take a pic of thegenerated route on the galaxy map, you'd see what I mean.

In most places parts of the galaxy, I find I am doing about 31-34 jump to get about 1000 Ly as the crow flies. Around here, I'm often doing 38 to achieve just 500Ly (or less, at times).

I also found my first Earth like last night in about 3 nights - it's about 64.7Kylies from Sol. Will need to check what is the furthest out Earth-like found, but I'm sure it's close to being there. Svenno may have found a few further out, seeing as that's his objective...

I'm quite keen to head back to Sol and get my Elite status, though. The system I am in now is my 5750th system visited, and I started htis trip at about 1900, so I'll probably hit 10k System by the time I'm back. Then I'll strip my ship, get better jump range, and perhaps buy an Anaconda to set up for jump range, and will explore the Sol side of the Galaxy (the rim of the Local SPur Arm). Which should be a much shorter, though just as interesting trip.

Thanks - oddly enough, I've stumbles upon two systems so far that you've been tagged as discovering. The first one was quite a surprise, as I hadn't seen a tag since Sagittarius A* (which is a couple of months back, now). So, I decided to tag one of the planets int he system, seeing as you only tagged the main star (ice ball planets only...).

I stumbled across another today, and did the same. Brought a smirk to my face...
I was wondering if anyone would ever come across one of them! Have you spotted any other CMDR names out there? I was hoping to find one of Erimus's out there but didn't come across a single tagged system whilst out there. Then when I got back home and checked the furthest system I could reach the star had since been tagged by CMDR Hans Gugensolder.

That sounds like not far from where I crossed, you can find the route I took in Erimus's galactic mapping project as the Roncevaux Crossing - doable with a 25.86 LY jump range if any other Cobra pilots ever head out there.

Svenno's record is 65,252 LY from Sol. It's on my list to try and break as I expect to be back in the area towards the end of the week.

You won't find Erimus' name out there as is was CMDR Kamzel who did that trip. I stopped playing Erimus at Xmas when game support said my character was corrupted and my save had to be cleared to fix it. So I lost motivation to play him again until recently.

Kamzel's should be all over some of the more distant Ceeckia sector systems as I was out there for weeks before beginning the journey home.

I think svenno got a bit further using an Anaconda and was able to cross the Abyss much further 'west' than what an Asp can.

Your two are the only ones. Actually, I have come across one other tagged system - though that was on purpose - Rendezvous Point, and I tagged one of the moons to add my name to the list of explorers dropping in to what was an historic meeting.

Will need to check that out, actually...

That's quite epic - 120Ly further than I can get, it's quite impressive. I will be coming back with something that jumps much further next time. Though, I may buy another account purely for exploration. There is a small group I am involved with, and I feel bad not helping out while I've been away for so many months...

I may be booking a super fast trip back, though. I found a jump I could make by burning off fuel to get a tad further (I'm at about 65132 Kylies now), though I'm in a dead end, and my return jump places me slap bang into the middle of a companion star - something I did not think to check when jumping out. I have no heat sink, so I'm working out my plan of escape. Should be interesting...

I'll add you to my friends list - if I'm still nearby, we should meet meet up! CMDR Ulysses and I seem to have missed each other, and I'd still love to do a 60 Kylie meetup with another CMDR, if any are near...

Sure thing, would love to have a meet-up as far from Sol as possible! Looks like I'm further away from you than I thought at 47k LY. I should have realised that as I'm 40K west of the galactic centre line... I can probably cover that in 5 days but right now I'm heading away from you as I try and seek out the furthest west I can get and need to head south as I had to go further north than I wanted to cross to the outer arm.

Yeah, I knew you were flying as Kamzel, but I didn't know the story behind it. I expect that the reason I didn't see your name anywhere was because you were operating a couple of hundred LY further out than I could manage.

I've got pretty much the same loadout as Svenno is (was?) using although I've gone with a custom 24T fuel tank to make it a little easier in the outer reaches.

Yeah - just noticed that - quite a long way - and I'm planning on going the opposite way around. May need to organise a group 65k meet...

I'll be picking up an Anaconda for exploration when I et back - for the far flung stuff, anyway. Though, perhaps that new Fed ship - that really huge one, will have greater jump potential...

Me? :)

At the moment I am at 65,270.70 and I was able to reach a system at 65,292.51

Nearly all systems in this area are tagged by Cmdr Att. But there is a system at 65,269.90 that could be perfect for a possible meeting + tagging. Only the star is tagged (Cmdr Att) and 4 + 4 planets are free.

What is your jump range?

My Asp: 32.12 (34.56) LYs

I also visited the system with the furthest ELW at 65,252 (I did not scan any object ;), all objects are still untagged there)

My jump range is 31.7 - though I am happy to take it jump by jump, I can hit just on 34 with a near empty tank. Where are you? I worked myself out of the maz eI found last night, so I'm at about 200.-50.64800 in terms of co-ordinates. Hopefully I wrote those the right way around...

Would be cool to find something untagged at the 65k mark, though.

Is Stulli your CMDR name? I'll add you to my friends list.
