That One Paintjob...

It just dawned on me... I have come to realize there is one paintjob that would look great on every single ship that we simply do not have, and should:

I know, I know... it's hard to pull off. But nail this one and there isn't a ship that it would look bad on out there. Sure there are some it would look even better on, but none on which it would look bad.

Get to work art people, the money awaits.

Very nice: It should be possible, with a chrome base.

I do like the parlescent job on cars, but I think it would actually look horrible on most of the ships.
The trick of the parlescent colour is in gradual changes of hue as the angle under which you are looking at it changes (as you know, of course) But when you look at a car, even one that has some more, let's say, interesting design features, you are basically looking at all surfaces under relatively similar angles. That makes parlescent colour look good.

But most of the ships (take a Clipper, for example) are vastly more complex in shape so the angles your're looking at are much more... diverse. In reality, if you were looking at a Clipper, you'd see white nose, most of the hull in light blue, one wing purple and the other one.. I don't know, orange. The ship would simply look like a parrot.

On a compact ship with simple shape like Cobra, for example it would look good, though...

Ehhhhhhhhh.... I don't know about that one. Even if they did it right, I'm not sure I would want that one. I actually wish we could have a bit more control over the paintjobs. I'm a fan of granularity when it comes to customization. I actually feel like I've paid for more paint jobs I didn't want than ones I did. Give me a pack of Graphite or Pulse for every ship at least. Yea, I know that would undermine the idea of milking me per ship, but I can dream.
