So I've decided to take a leaf out of Vin Delanos' book, & report my weekend activities as more of an After Action Report.
So I decided to take a break from aiding the various Criminal Factions in Alliance Space, and instead decided to take some missions purely based on how much they were worth. I tried to be too clever for my own good, & took two missions aimed at eliminating pirates in a neighbouring system......without first checking if they overlapped (they didn't
). So this meant I had to destroy a total of 8 pirates from 2 different factions. I also took on a "quick" salvage mission in the same system. In each case I took missions that had more than 1 day to complete......thinking that would be ample time. It turned out to be much harder than I realised.
I got halfway through both my pirate killing missions fairly quickly, using a combination of the Nav Beacon, my FSD Interdictor and USS's. Then I decided to take a break to pursue the salvage mission.....only to find that I had sold my vehicle hanger......oops (& got destroyed by a passing pirate whilst I was on the surface of the planet, just to add insult to injury).
So I flew off to a system that had a decent station, with outfitting services, to pick up a vehicle hanger (& also got to chat with Vin Delanos himself, even though he was 120LY away from me).
Upon my return to my mission system, I decided to go back to my pirate hunting activities, but this time I found things a lot more difficult. I interdicted several ships-& submitted to interdiction by several ships-to find them much tougher than I had anticipated. I was forced to flee-with my tail between my legs-about 3 or 4 times (it was particularly funny, once, when I was trying to interdict someone who was actually trying to interdict me
).
It took going back to a Nav Beacon for me to find enough mission targets to complete one of my Pirate hunting missions-thanks to some help from NPC's in the area. I also got 1 away from completing my other pirate hunting mission, but noticed I was fast running out of time to do my planetary salvage mission!!!
That mission went fairly smoothly, and was even able to pick up some additional loot to sell once I got back to the settlement that gave me the mission. Hilariously though, as I was leaving the planet to head back to the system I got the mission from, I randomly scanned a ship close to the surface and noticed that it was a Cobra MkIII that was a mission target!! So I stalked him through Super Cruise, until I was within range, then interdicted him. He was a novice, so went down with relative ease, & this allowed me to complete that mission too.
So that allowed me to fly back to my original system, with all 3 missions completed, & about 2 hours left to spare on my salvage mission (after originally having about 1 day & 4 hours
). As an added bonus, I got the opportunity to bring the salvage in early to gain a 60,000 Cr bonus.
All in all, a very successful and fun weekend, even if it did get a bit "super squeaky bum" time for a while!!!
