That was close

Hopping along the n.field, enjoying myself, searching for black holes in galaxy map while the detailed scanner does it's thing.
Set up the 30-odd LY jump, hit friendship drive, await the countdown to throttle off, when I glance at the fuel.
Big hunk of blue for the current jump leaving me with a tiny sliver of fuel.

You've never seen someone cancel a jump as quickly as I did.

Closest I've ever been to having to call the Fuel Rats.
I paid attention for the rest of the session.

Would've loved to see a screenshot of that. I have voice attack set up with a command for screenshot so I can get those as quickly as possible. That's frightening, though.

Haha nice story :) It's worst when you see it just as you enter hyperspace and can't stop it. Heart in mouth moment for the next 7 seconds before you enter the next system. I had it with a black hole, luckily there was an M type 500,000Ls away that I could get to :D
Side note but I understand it the fuel rats have quite a lot of people in the black at the moment due to two long range ongoing rescues so I think you'd have been ok had it happened...

Been there EUS a couple of times and thats after running out alltogether in my sidewinder and having to self destruct...

There but for the grace of God go I!

That is why I'm flying economic route. That way I caan go at least 1000ly before I need to start worrying. Of course that takes time. I set out to Sgr A* 6 weeks ago and am sort of halfway there now. Will take 3 whole months to reach it eventually. On the return I'll try my luck with the fast way though.

That's the reason I fitted an extra fuel tank to my Asp...
There's a voice warning "main fuel tank drained", but I still have 4t left in reserve - usually enough to get me to a scoopable!

Fly carefully!

Yeah I do the same, usually I just throttle forward a bit into the star and scoop while looking at the system map.

yeah, if you get a good fuel scoop, I have a class 3 c, you can fill the tank at a decent rate just by flying into the star and idling when you get too a decent kg/sec that will not over heat

I already thought I was stranded without fuel 25k ly from Sol, I wanted to contact the fuel rats, I opened the Galaxy Map to see where I was exactly and I saw a SINGLE full line going from my system to another. I felt like born again.
My fuel tank was virtually empty.
