Probably everyone else knows this, but new to me. It seems that if you power off a base while downloading data then the data port stays active even after the base powers down. Which was handy as I still had 20 seconds left of the download

Yeah, I just assume you have some kinda wireless power system for it, and that's what makes the WiFi range so low....
