The "12 Colonies" system from Battlestar Galactica - Is there anything like it in Elite?

I just came across this interesting post about BSG and how they imagined the 12 Colonies system:

"Battlestar Galactica’s Twelve Colonies are in a complicated system of 12 planets. According to one of the show’s writers, Jane Espenson, the system in question is a double binary system, with the 12 planets orbiting the four stars."

With the sheer number of systems, something mechanically close to it is not too unlikely to exist, but the number of factions per system and the relative rarity of planets able to support large populations makes something quite as populated rather unlikely.

It's about as unlikely to exist as "the Verse" from Firefly, maybe get out and about exploring and if you find something that might work out as an interesting system give FD and shout and let them know it exists.

I have found a few systems with 3 habitable worlds and several terraformable ones but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule, most systems are pretty barren as far as living space goes.

17 lyrae and gridge come to my mind; while they don't have that number of stars, they have even more "colonies" - i always intended to spend some week in these systems without ever jumping out.

Double binaries exist, and with planets around them, that EXACT configuration? no clue. But the answer seems 'probably'.
