I'd quite like to see that confirmed somewhere as I think it is a valid option to start with a KS starter ship, sell it and buy a new ship.
I'd like to think that I've read all the Q&As as they're mentioned (being the obvious fanatic) but easy to miss one or two
You may consider doing this if you're starting in the Trader KS to get more funds to buy move profitable (but more expensive) cargo but in a smaller ship...

That's the current thinking.I'd imagine that the starter ship is just that, its a ship (and perks) you get when you start a new commander. If you manage to loose that ship then you'll have to buy it back via insurance just like what happens at the moment
