The ability to purchase small Space Stations/Mining Hubs

Has this idea ever been seriously considered by the developers at Frontier?
It would open up a lot of game play options for example provide you with a place to store commodities ship parts etc.
It would add immersion as it would give you something to work towards as we only have the option at the moment to spend our credits on ships and ship upgrades.
I guess it would be similar to Carriers which we almost got last year.
I understand that the community would probably want to see other ideas implemented before space station ownership and it may clog up the servers.
Interested in Frontier Developer thoughts and the communities as well?

As credits are so easy to come by these days then the above items would need to be incredibly expensive and maybe limited to one or two per player.

Alternatively I'd love to have the option to purchase my own little part of the ED Galaxy with my own planet or such, with real money I mean.

I know its been requested before but I dont think fdev have ever acknowledged it.

But I to would like this. as stated above credits are easy to come by these days.

The base model Cutter has a price tag of 208 mil credits and considerably more once it's A rated AND it's only a ship. I can't imagine the price tag they'd put on player owned stations. I'll guess trillions and continued financial input for maintenance and supplies. Probably more of an active faction purchase. At that point factions would most likely require credit payment for joining and "dues" to continue. They'd also need some sort of defense fleet to ward off attackers, both other factions and bugs. Big undertaking with lots of logistics to consider.

Yeah like I would set the price as expensive say 3 billion credits, it would give a community something to work towards a base of operations for a Squadron. The ability to buy modules and customise it how you like. Buy turrets and set defences. It would add another layer of immersion.

Your dead right Mo Ronik the price should be set in the hundreds of billions if not Trillions of credits. By doing this it would help unclog the servers as only dedicated commander factions would be able to afford it. I'm am fitting out my Cutter at the moment and your not wrong it is really expensive. I don't mind that though as it should take a lot of effort to own a A rated Cutter, and a prospective station as well.

Still, I think it would be ace to own it as a squadron. And if you don't keep payments up, services close down. But you can make profits by selling mined stuff to players.

I agree. It could also be a multiple squadron station where the purchasing faction/squadron keeps ownership and joining squadrons maintain their independence but add credits by "dues" and working to better the station.

It has been suggested before but like 99.99% of the threads here in "Suggestions & Feature Requests", it has no replies form devs. To be honest, I've always thought that this forum is just a contention board so we can scream out our frustration and express our personal desires if we could create a game as good as this one. All "enacted suggestions" are, in my opinion, ideas that the devs already had and were working on them before the request/suggestion was made.

That being said, I think that station/outpost/base building would be a perfect credit sink. I won't give passive income but it will still give players a nice feeling of accomplishment and "having done something to change the galaxy", or maybe a simple "I have my secret base in the god-knows-where sector that's my home and hangar". Sure, it should have several restrictions, it would be hard to buy and it should be built hauling materials and with other activities and lot's of other restrictions on the number of them around planets, etc., but I still support that idea completely.

I missed the close of the Kickstarter by a matter of days and have been bidding in the annual charity auction to name a station ever since. Finally won this year and it’s now my home base. I know I don’t own it, but it’s nice anyways!

Frontier has already stated, multiple times, that they plan to add player owned stations in the future.
Frontier doesnt respond to these suggestions because they already have plans to impliment them

Really? I didn't know. Do you have a link for that? I would like to know more about this.

I have been lead to believe that player owned stations are not part of Frontiers plans for the game.
If anyone has access to a link or information to the contrary of that I would really appreciate it.

This would be pretty cool. I've never read anything regarding player owned stations but I'm not a long time player in the ED universe so I don't know the history. I wonder if we'll see the beginnings of this in the coming years. Maybe it could start with player groups taking over some of the abandoned bases I see pictures of now and then.

Make them damageable, imagine Powerplay factions and Squadrens going at it. Frontier should let you know who attacked you to so that revenge attacks could be achieved. If you have got the cash the ability to set up impenetrable defences would be important though. Man I hope Frontier do something similar in the future.

To me it´d suffice if you´d be able to add large landing pads, markets or outfitting capabilities to existing outposts. Developing them in a sense. Maybe as part of your ranking up as missions or as substitutes for the *** power play voucher transports?
