The accidental T7 buff in beta actually made it the way it should have always been

The Python is 'easy mode', the 'Conda likewise.

The T7 has a fantastic view and it's fun to fly (laterally).
I wouldn't turn down more cargo space but to say it has 'no point' is foolish.

The increased powerplant size allowed it to run good shields while improving the heat handling slightly. The increased thruster size made it faster than cutter gankships.
These are very important changes.

Apologies, I was referring to the jump range increase, specifically - what is the new, unladen, top end? It's more of a curiosity, than anything, as I am ok with its current live jump range.

The T-7 is my PS4 Commander's main ship, and is likely to remain so. It has a Serenity-type vibe that I really like, and it's reasonably photogenic.

No, that's different. The cutter is a big ship that is meant to be bulky, the Corvette is a dedicated combat ship so there's nothing mind blowing about having less range than Condas. But the T7 is a dedicated trading ship, it makes no sense that its worse at trading than a multi purpose ship.

Indeed.. and that remembers me that big cruise ship that name can't be mentioned without causing 3rd ww.

noone knows, because the change will happen between beta and release

I feel they should increase its hull mass and give it a class 6 FSD back, to have a 25-30 jump range when fully laden unengineered. That should make it a good long range/colonia trading ship.
We also then need a dedicated medium trading ship, that’s better than the python at hauling cargo. Then the traders should have a nice lineup of ships?

i do really hope that Zorgon Peterson will take the task of releasing a top-end medium trading vessel.
with only 3 ships (Hauler, Adder and FDL) they are a bit underpresented on the market.
maybe in a colaboration with Saud Krueger, because they also lack a medium ship in their portafolio

Well I'm expecting around a 12,5% - 15% increase in jump range, but that depends on the new hull weight and any other change to the ship.

T-7 was fine in it's original incarnation, before they buffed it in 2.2 or 2.3.

The problem has always been with the game's economy that made segregating ship performance based on price pointless because money has been too easy to get for the last two-plus years.

The one bit of sense in the thread.

Now that the T7 is back to pre-buff state, only with a slight jump range, its back to being a pointless ship. A worse clone of the python (a trading ship, which is worse at trading than a multi purpose ship - how does that make any sense?).

This is why I honestly LOVED the concept of a T7 which could jump as far as an Anaconda. It gave the T7 a purpose and an actual use. It still carried much less cargo than any of the Big 4, and it still wouldn't fit on a medium pad with the Python, but having that range made it great for long distance cargo runs. Plus yeah it also would have given explorers a new choice of ship to utilize, and FINALLY would have given explorers an alternative to the Anaconda.

Now, with the changes reverted and only minor mass decrease, the T7 is back to being mostly useless, which just feels like a lost opportunity to me.

you mean, like the T9 made sense back in the days when the maintenence of it was cheaper then on the conda...

the meta changes, so some ships must adjust...

If you are looking for an adjustment that brings it in line with ED's modern "economy", simply delete the t6 and t7.

This is true. Much like the Clipper, the T-7 being less able than a Python does make sense but only when relative price is included in the assessment. Trouble is regardless of the relative price points of those ships, none of them are now sufficiently expensive as to require a huge credit grind to obtain.
