The Alien Ruins are one big machine.

That's what it is. Like in Total Recall (Schwarzenegger). Once activated, they might open a portal and the invasion starts. There's a lot underneath the sand which we can't see. Maybe once started, the sand disappears and the entire structure will be visible.

Or there's no mythological background at all. Like the hunt for the Gerforce Titan GFX cards. Maybe it's just like 'Gfx designer, do something that looks cool. We just want to keep the folks busy. Do whatever you want it should just look strange so the xxxheads think it's something behind it. They'll spend weeks on it trying to find it out. That will give us more time to develop. LOL, these players ...' *rofl shaking head*

It is clear that what we first need to do is find out how to activate the alien vacuum cleaner. Second, it will probably initiate a deep space pulse signal that will echo out into space using a massive city sized radial. We just have to find out how to activate it. Make sure the extension cord is hooked into an Anaconda because we are going to need that 8A power plant. That is a lot of sand.

Then, after the pulse is fired off we may see a formation of a giant astral event that will initiate a worm hole. Perhaps, opening right above the planet as the invasion into our bubble starts anew. But it will not be Thargoids that come for us. It will be a new alien race. The Guardians of the Loop will begin by stating our presence on their dead city is trespassing and as such we have violated their oldest of beliefs.

But it will take us weeks to actually decrypt their transmission to find out we have just one day left before galactic war shall begin. While the Thargoids suddenly turn up to unite with us against the greater threat.


Or you know, nothing like this at all. Could be more neat. Could be a whole lot less fun and interesting too. Could just lead to another lifeless city with another mystery.

This made me laugh. It's probably quite accurate, sadly...I guess this all looks a bit wierd to some people...you know, spending time in a virtual galaxy... but + rep for the laughs.
