Powerplay Faction: Edmund Mahon The Alliance and the California Nebula

That's not a bounty. It's lunch money.
I stand corrected.

However in spite of the paltry amount - Deep Space Investigations (DSI) has today ceded control of asteroid base Darwin Research Facility after a short but violent struggle.

The Alliance welcomes Darwin into the stable of systems ruled by Turner Research Group and we look forward to improved security at the facility and hope that with new governance, Turner's research outcomes will be expedited.

CMDR Spatula007 has gone too far!

The Alliance has nothing to hide, but that doesn't mean we will suffer this CMDR sticking his nose into our business.
Turner Research Group has a lot of intellectual property at stake and CMDR Spatula007 is warned that his attempts to breach security at Mahon Research Base have been noted and any further intrusions will be met with force.

Actually the guy is totally KOS just for the pronunciation of "Mahon".

I love the Alliance Base in the California Nebula, I even used it as my forward base of exploration a few times. However I have recently changed my direction to taking science researchers to their desired destinations of study and then bring them back. I take 3-4 groups at one time to similar regions. I spent an hour at the base looking for researchers/scientist but not a single one (ie, not one passenger mission, even the mission board was pretty much empty). Has something recently happened to this base? I am allied to it, but it seems nearly evacuated. There were not even any patrols at the base and only a single alliance patrol in system. After spending some time there and finding nothing, I gave up and moved to another location. What gives?

Yay - so Turner is IN at Darwin Research Facility.
Now that Deep Space Investigations are no longer in charge, that pesky Spatula character won't stick his nose in where it's not wanted.
Passenger Missions should be back on the menu at Darwin now that the war is finished.
Please dont do passenger missions except for Turner. It's a low population system so it will be prone to unwanted BGS effects.
There's 3 beacons nearby. Most "regional" missions will include one of the nearest and a lovely Nebula called Little Blue. Not far in an explo Rated ship. OR there's lots of missions back to the bubble. Each trip will bring a tidy number of new finds - just filter by "unvisited" in the GalMap.

That's awesome! I haven't gone to Darwin station yet, I'll put that on my next list then. I was referring to the Mic Turner base that had ZERO passengers or anything else. My current group of researchers all are working from Sothis and had me at cupids arrow and an earth like world orbiting a gas giant. (I'm loving these long range passenger missions at times)

Can you confirm passengers missions are actually spawning there? I think there may be a bug at some surface bases with passengers as I have seen several now that have 3-4 groups for normal missions, but the passenger board is blank (normally just one organizer with no passengers), and this includes multiple board swapping and reguardless of standing (and in an Orca 2 with 3-4 cabins, as I know ship can have an effect).

There are five landable stations out there. In most of them, Turner Research Group is the sole faction sitting at 100%.
So the normal inter-factional BGS rivalry doesn't happen. Only the State changes due to CMDR activity. Not the conflict states that come from influence matching. So no combat missions.

But Darwin has 3 factions, so there is a bit more variety.
Whether or not Turner Research Group is offering Passenger Missions out of the surface bases - You can usually pick some up out of Darwin which has a more normal BGS.

But again even at Darwin - because of lack of rivals you won't see other mission types. Maybe donations if Turner goes to expansion, but again - there's nowhere to expand TO so the Turner faction will go through the State without generating anything useful.

As always - sell your exploration data to gain reputation. ONLY take passengers from Turner Research Group. Filter by "unvisited" in the GalMap whenever you go to "Little Blue" for fresh explo data to sell.

Rep for you!

Is there a fourm/discord/something that you all use? I know there was a recent drama within some alliance discord, but who is active in this region? I'm not planning to join PP simply because it doesn't do anything for me except make me a target, but I do want to help the Alliance, especially in the California Nebula.

There is much to catch up on out in the California Nebula.

For a start, there is the new station: California Gateway in ah - but I am tired and there is much to tell.
Sometime soon, perhaps. Soon.

Im in the area right now. First exploration trip. Nothing unusual except a wing of 7 Terrorists with a "Terrorist Leader" with a 300cr bounty at one of the attacked mega ships. Anything else I should point my nose at?

This is my list at the moment. I'm updating the content now.

There are also two megaships out in the California Nebula. I haven't got the limpet types to interact with them, but it's on my to do list. Haven't listed them in the link yet.

There's a list of Thargoid Barnacles in the link. Three known systems have them. Some are listed with an "!A" on CMDR PanPiper's spreadsheet. There's a link to his thread as well.

There's a lot to get your head around like the trifold ripening cycle, and how the Thargoids feed at the "always ripe" ones in the Pleiades. There's a new codex from Ram Tah that talks about how the Barnacles are seeded in systems that they want to occupy.

So that means we'll eventually see Thargoids in the Witch Head and California Nebulas. But so far they're all cyclic and not always on.
Please don't sell exploration data in Darwin, take it to one of the other bases.

Alliance Initiative

26 JUL 3304
The Alliance has announced plans to build an Ocellus starport in the MEL 22 Sector GM-V C2-8 system, to further bridge the gap between the core systems and the Alliance’s outposts in the California Nebula.

Alliance official Torvan Dast issued the following statement:

“Our previous initiative established a link between our outposts in the California Nebula and the galactic core. But to ensure the safety and wellbeing of travellers following the route, we need to maintain a robust programme of starport construction.”

The initiative is being overseen by the Turner Research Group, which has placed an open order for mined resources to be used in the construction. The organisation has also placed a kill order on all ships on its wanted list, to ensure that those contributing material to the campaign can do so safely.

The campaign begins on the 26th of July 3304 and will run for one week. If the final target is met earlier than planned, the campaign will end immediately.

Must check out the new system before the Station goes in.

Summary

CG System: Synuefai EB-R c7-5
Station: California Gateway
(Orbis Starport, large pads available, 1,204 Ls from main star, 818.46 Ly from Sol)
Objective: Deliver mined Osmium, Samarium and Coltan
Time limit: 2nd August 3304 @ 15:00 UTC

Global Reward: Ocellus starport in MEL 22 Sector GM-V C2-8
