Every faction has it's trustworthy and untrustworthy followers. You are seen more trustworthy going up the progression ladder with the Empire/Federation. You still get those who betray either faction even at a high rank but it's certainly a way to find the best of the best. The alliance don't have ranks because they don't trust anyone.

TO THEM YOU ARE CANNON FODDER!

Join the Federation.

The Alliance Defence Force is led by the Council of Admirals, which is made up of one leader from each of the largest member navies. The member navies are highly diverse, and represent everything from corporate states, to communist states, to confederacies, etc. The military vessels generally bear the decals of their own navy, but have an additional Alliance Defence Force decal applied while they are with the group – so the culture of identity and independence (and rivalries) applies here too. I expect a military ranking system for the Alliance to be implemented, in time.

Don't mind the lack of ranks at all, but some goodies, perks, changes or benefits from being Allied would be nice. Ta!
