The Anaconda - alpha version

Anybody noticed that the Anaconda model in the alpha stage is slightly different from the one we saw in the early dev diaries ?

pre-alpha

alpha version

may i ask you a couple of questions about it ?

1 Why the decision to totally change the textures and some details ?

2 Since was a good job, the pre-alpha version will be available as alternative model in game ?

3 Could we aspect some other models changements during the alpha and the beta stages ?

I think its an overall improvement. If they implemented the original model, I'd like to see it as a "dated" version. Kinda like last generations model.

It actually would be cool if every few ingame years ship manufacturers updated their ships, just to keep things changed up you know?

But over all, the new one looks much more aggressive. I see the Anaconda as a gunship anyway, with how powerful the things is up close. I do like them both though.

1. They are early concept images, things change. For the real reason you'd have to speak to the team.

2. I doubt they'll make a new model, maybe just textures though but doesn't seem enough difference to warrant a new skin. Plus the first one is ****e in comparison to the new ;)

3. No-one knows other than the dev team, though I'd expect tweaks between alpha and beta.

Well, we know there are different variants of ships (ie. Long Range Cobra)... and that they are very customizable (also visually)... so it may very well be that what we have in the beta is just a different configuration of Anaconda.

I think the variants refer more to the actual hardware installed inside, not the exterior hull. That "Long Range Cobra" most likely is a normal Cobra with, say, a better Hyperdrive preinstalled in exchange for something else, for example weaker shields or smaller cargo bay.

Because pre-alpha are practically just a mock-up, sketch idea if you like? It doesn't have thrusters, it doesn't have cockpit, etc. etc. etc.

It was good for pre-game sketch, but final result is much more detailed and believable. So I think you should just give current version more time before jumping to conclusions.

Not really, alpha and beta stages aren't meant for that.

True, but remember the early concept art/renders... almost every piece of equipment changed the appearance of the ship a little. Combine that with the possibility of randomly generated pain jobs/textures. Voila: Different ship.
