Ships The Anaconda is...wow...

I just got an Anaconda.
I was always skeptical about bigger ships, the inability to land at outposts always stopped me.
I used to fly a Python but I have always been dissatisfied by its short jump range.

So in the end I gave in and got a Conda, A grade stuff, Bi-Weave shields and around 400t of cargo...

Wow guys...just wow!

This thing is majestic PvE-wise.
It burns enemies in seconds, can haul lots of cargo and has a 24ly jump range unladen.
It's slow, but I love the handling, the drift, it feels like flying a freaking Star Destroyer.

It's my new Millennium Falcon! I'm in love with this ship!

Yup - still awesome

Mine are currently parked while I play with the new big boys, but I'd love to see your build specs.

Can you do a Carolis or EDshipyard link?

My trade Conda does 20.49LY laden with 452T and my battle Conda is under 20LY unladen.

Your build looks like it might be a nice middle ground worth taking a look at.

Can you post your builds? I've been a few days now tweaking my weapons because quite frankly I've just not been happy with everything I've thrown in it so far. I think I finally landed on a combination last night I'm happy with, but initially I was ready to sell the thing and go back to my python.
.
As for the bi weaves, I used them also simply because a 7C is not horribly expensive, still gives you near 1000mj strength with 5 boosters, and if I lose them, usually because I'm just not paying attention, I don't necessarily have to withdraw anymore.

Got a Python, Conda, Cutter and Corvette among others and the Conda is the best of the lot for most jobs
Python for smuggling - yes
Cutter for sheer cargo capacity - but blimey does it side slip/drift
Corvette is nice but range limited

Conda - range, firepower, manouvreable. Overall my favourite ship

Still the fastest PVE killer if you have a good spawn. I say that owning a Cutter and a Corvette alongside of it nowadays.

(That footage is about 10 months old using D thrusters. It performs better using A-thrusters, some skill, FA-off and less alcohol - not sure if those spawns still exist though...).

They look so much cooler now. Here's the 80's model:

11 internal slots, it can therefore even do ALL at once. as really ALL (but then surely cargo will be heavily reduced).

Welcome to the club! Anacondas are truly a breed apart as far as ships go.

Resist the temptation to put a Class 4 weapon in the Huge slot... as awesome as the Plasma Accelerators and Cannons are, they are a waste of energy.

Be careful of Federal Assault Ships, those little s were made to harass bigger ships, and are often found carrying frag cannons and plasma accelerators (great when you can hover three meters away from someone's very large hull and shoot point blank).

And when fighting wings, always "shoot da runts firs'!"

Agree on all counts. Hopefully future updates to C4s will revive my interest in that huge slot but until then.

As for the FAS they are definitely the toughest NPC out there. At compromised nav beacons they are even tougher. The Fed Gunships and Clippers I find the easiest.

I liked the Conda so much I bought two of them ^_^

The first is my long range trader/explorer (link shows default trader setup, easy to add a bigger fuel scoop, scanners etc when the time comes to go out into the black). I did run pulse/burst turrets for a while but eventually decided the weight/range penalty wasn't worth it:

The above ship funded the combat conda below:

Still tinkering with weapon loadouts atm. Right now, the laser fire group has triple fixed pulses providing long range, chaff free, general purpose hitting power and they fire for ages. The beam turrets swat the midges and also point you to your target when ducking and diving around ;) The cannon fire group is used to finish off disabled or bigger ships as required.

The A thrusters really help in letting you line up the large/huge fixed or gimballed weapons.

My Conda finally flew today as I had enough to equip her for trade. I was worried I would pull a Galaxy Quest and scrape her paint up when leaving the station and that is exactly what I did the first time. Got the warning message and did the Pee Wee Herman laugh with a big grin on my face. Haven't scratched her paint when docking after that but I am sure I will put a few more scars on her.

Playing it safe with shields etc so only have 400 tons of cargo but that is more than double of my Python so should do fine for now.

Here's my All-rounder anaconda. I prefer trading, friends prefer bounty hunting, sometimes I need to escort a friend home from a mining venture. This baby does it all. Currently working on getting the "A" class power plant, then gonna work on the Prismatic. If I've gotta go somewhere, I remove the 2A scoop, replace with the garage, and slap on a 5A scoop. Man, I love this ship.

FYI: It has recently been discovered that the only number that matters regarding shield capacity is the final value displayed by shipyard / coriolis (IE if your 3A shield with boosters equals 200 shields, and your 6A shield with no boosters equals 200 shields, there will be no difference in your survivability). The 6A prismatic with 6 boosters has the same capacity as the 7A with 6 boosters, so that leaves the 7A slot for that awesome cargo rack.
