THE ARGONAUT PROJECT
Bringing the Milky Way into Our reach
| PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is a simple one: to bring the Orion-Cygnus Arm into the reach of Human expansion. By doing so, we will begin to slowly open the rest of the Galaxy to new ventures and explorers seeking refuge in their search for distant undiscovered horizons.
| THE GOALS
The Argonaut Project is a multi-tiered long-term project that aims to colonize a small section of the Orion-Cygnus Arm; a relatively devoid region of human activity. With enough people and effort, we can make another prosperous colony far from the Bubble (and the potential Thargoid Threat).
Our effort isn’t to break away from the Bubble and the Human sphere, but rather, we aim to further expand the reach of humanity while also connecting more of its distant outposts together. With Colonia continuing to grow, it is proof that even the most distant enterprises can become fledgling homes for people outside the Bubble.
| Where are we going?
Very far.
Ultimately, we aim for an unexplored nebula known as ZEJOO AA-A H38. It is a large nebula situated at the middle edge of the Orion-Cygnus Arm and is populated with numerous unexplored stars and potential planets. Once enough Explorers have volunteered for the Argonaut Project, we will begin the long step of Phase One – to travel and explore the nebula.
Once the Explorers arrive around Rally Point Jason, they will begin the process of fanning out and exploring nearby systems suitable for habitation. After a few weeks of exploration, the most suitable system will be chosen from the expeditions and made into the “official” headquarters of the whole Argonaut Project.
| Why ZEJOO AA-A H38?
For our purposes, I’ll be giving the nebula the unofficial name “Argo”.
The Argo Nebula sits near the middle of the Orion-Cygnus Arm; a largely unexplored region of the galaxy. If an outpost were to be built within the Argo Nebula, it could open up the Orion-Cygnus Arm to further human expansion just as Colonia is doing in its respective galactic region. It is also its relative proximity to Colonia that makes Argo an attractive target for colonization.
| Who can join?
Anyone! Provided that you have the means and the time to achieve such a long trip. There are outposts incredibly few and far between once you leave the Bubble, so be prepared for that.
| And what will we be doing?
Before anything can actually come into fruition, we need people! First and foremost, we need people capable of taking such a distant journey nearly 18,000 light years across unexplored space to a place people have seldom visited. But that is the fun of being an explorer – to trail blaze the way.
Once a suitable star system has been found, the Argonaut Project will make it the home port. Mind you, it’ll mostly just be a resource rich system within the Argo Nebula until we can find some way to develop it beyond that point, but the resources will be an important first step in the long process of making Argo a home.
The home of the Argonaut Project then falls to miners and haulers – people willing to transport the materials within the system back to Colonia for trade while simultaneously making a solid travel route between the Argo and Colonia Nebulas.
| But what about after all of that?
It is my hope that after gaining a large enough following for the effort, we can potentially get an outpost centered around the Argo Project and make the Argo Nebula an official part of the Milky Way Galaxy. But we won’t stop there. We have the whole galaxy to explore and conquer.
