The Azuka Chronicles: White Hammer

Prologue

We've all heard their stories. How pilots started out with the Pilot's Federation, taking to the stars in their first ship, usually a Sidewinder. Some inherited their first ship from family members. Others earn it through graduation. They each have their reasons, a since of duty, a need to escape, a means for vengeance, a passion for the unknown. My story isn't that far from the same, except mine wasn't a gift, I didn't earn her from the Pilot's Federation, I wasn't even old enough to own a ship when I took her helm. My first ship was a test to see if I had what it took to survive amongst my father's pirate crew, the Ten Swords. This is the story about my Sidewinder, The White Hammer, and the troubles she and I caused.

Turning thirteen is usually a thing celebrated by blowing out candles on a birthday cake and opening gifts surrounded by family and friends. But me, being an Azuka, I celebrated my birthday in a much different manner. I find myself on an unfamiliar outpost hiding out in the main generator room with one of my father's most trusted pilots. A man named Demetri Lambros, late 30's, 5'10, stocky build, long brown hair and a bit of a roughly trimmed beard. His eyes were a hazel brown, at least one of them were anyway. His left eye was heavily scared and sealed shut at all times.

He held a pistol in hand and as he stood near the door of the generator room holding his arm across my chest to keep me out of the line of sight of anyone who would enter. I did my best not to make any noise, breathing shallow breaths as the moments ticked by. We waited as the corridor on the other side of the door to clear before he finally lowers his arm.

"Pad 3 is unguarded. That's your target." He whispers to me and hands me a second pistol.

"I..." I start to speak looking at the gun in my hand and swallowing hard. "Do I really need this?"

He glances over to me and back to the door reaching up to the key pad to open it.

"These men won't hesitate to kill me if we're caught. You on the other hand, there's no telling what they might do. Best not to take any chances." He states and looks back to me again. My hands shake nervously with the weapon in my hand. His places his large hand on mine and forces them to tighten around the handle. He looks me in the eye, using his pistol to shift my natural black hair from in front of face. His face is as calm as though we were back home on my father's ship. "You're an Azuka. You might not think it yet but this is part of who you are. You'll be fine." He says and a calm voice easing my nerves a bit.

"Okay." I reply much calmer.

"Pad 3. Once you hit the hanger, you're on your own. Remember, full power to engines and High Wake as soon as you're clear of the mass lock." He says once more and hits the hey pad.

The door slides open and he slips out into the corridor, pointing his gun down both ends of the hallway before signaling to me to follow. I exit the room and takeoff for the end of the corridor as fast as my feet would allow. We reach the end of the corridor and see a large sliding door marked Hanger 3. I take a step towards the hanger just as a loud siren sounds throughout the outpost.

"Demetri?!" I shout before the doors behind us open.

Three armed guards enter the corridor pointing their weapons at up. We both put our hands up as if to surrender. Demetri tilts his weapon slightly pointing it a pipe above the guards head. He pulls the trigger shooting the pipe and releasing the white gas from within it, blinding the men for a brief moment.

"Go Princess!" He shouts and rushes towards the guards.

I run for the door and slam the controls while he opens fire into the group, taking one out with the first shot and tackling another and fighting for his rifle as the hanger door slides open. I slide under the door and trigger it to close losing sight of Demetri as he struggles with the guards. The door seals and the lights of the hanger flash on. I turn to face my target, an all white Sidewinder. Once I saw the ship my thoughts started to wonder.

All this for a Sidewinder?

I start to head to the craft as the door behind me slides open. Two more guards enter and spot me, raise their guns to fire.

"Stop right there!" They command.

I run for the Sidewinder and duck behind its front landing gear as a swarm of bullets fly. Hesitant at first, I tuck around the gear and fire three shots back at my attackers, hitting one in the shoulder. He falls screaming in pain and there's a brief pause in incoming bullets. I peak back around the landing gear and the remaining guard is kneeling next to his partner. He looks up at me with a look of confusion as I point the gun at him.

"You're just a child." he mumbles just loud enough for me to hear.

My eyes look him over with the gun shaking in my hand. He stares at me and an almost sympathetic look crosses his face. He tosses his weapon to the side and begins to drag the injured man out of the hanger. My eyes fixed on him, I start to head to board the Sidewinder.

I mouth the words "I'm sorry" to the guard before the hanger door slides shut again.

I hurry aboard the small ship and enter its cockpit, switching on it's systems while I leap into the seat. The ship comes to life and rumbles with the powering up of it's thrusters. Several more men enter the hanger from another door and point their guns at the ship. I trigger the pad to move out of the hanger and the men begin shooting. I jump in the seat at the sudden gunfire but realize their weapons were useless against the Sidewinder's shields. With the pad moved into open space, I trigger the ship to release from the pad.

The Sidewinder's engines spin up in a high pitch whine as it lifts away from the pad. I hit the throttle forward and throw the small ship around in the direction of my destination. As the ship pulls away from the outpost, I hit the comms and open a channel to Demetri.

"I have the ship!"

The sound of machine gun fire floods the comms before the laughter of the one eye man follows.

"Good. Get going. Watch your six." He says with a tone of approval in his voice.

"What about you?"

"I'll be fine." He says followed by more gunfire. "Just stick to the plan!" He adds and cuts the feed.

I take in a deep breath then hit the Frame Shift Drive and boost away from the outpost as the countdown start. 4, 3, 2, 1, Flash.

The small ship jumps into the system I called home and lingers around the the star as I fumbled my way through the navigation panel. The ship's controls weren't too different from the Cobra MK III I was already used to but the pressure of the mission at hand was playing tricks with my mind. I lock on to Adams Market and throttle up.

In my lack of experience on my own, I fail to notice a ship on my sensors closing in on me. The sudden rattle of the hull with the following interdiction sends my heartbeat into a full panic. Instead of fighting it, I submit and both ships drop out of supercruise. I flip the small vessel around to see the Eagle in pursuit of me as it deploys its weapons. I hit the comms hoping to avoid a fight but am quickly overcome by a volley of burst laser fire.

I throttle up and charge ahead for the ship deploying my own hardpoints. As I barrel passed the combat ship I look over this ship's loadout. It couldn't be much worse. All I had to defend myself was a pair of fixed pulse lasers, no chaff or electronic countermeasures or anything defensive.

All this for a stock Sidewinder?

I take a deep breath and focus. I pull in to attack, the pilots swings the ship hard to face me head on, firing several more blast from a pair of burst laser. I return fire and we do about and even amount of damage to each other's shields. I boost out to open a gap between us to by my shields time to recover. The Eagle twists around and pulls back within weapons range and fires again. I spin to avoid it's attack but the much more maneuverer Eagle manages to chip away at my shields, taking me to one ring.

I pull back on the stick to loop around the target, unleashing as many blast from my lasers as the ship could manage. I start taking more hits from his lasers. This guy was better than me, that much was clear. I realize I was in over my head. Getting the upper hand wouldn't be easy. I try to tuck in behind the Eagle taking several shots at the bulk of the ship before he flips around to face me. I couldn't afford any more hits on my shields. Then the thought hits me.

Our shields are next to even. But our hulls aren't.

I boost for the Eagle which was within a few meters from me to begin with. Our ships collide and both our shields collapse in the impact. The Sidewinder spins around with flames pouring out of several panels across the cockpit. I fight with the controls to realine on my now crippled foe. Without its shields, the Eagle might as well be a paper bag in terms of armor.
I let loose on the Eagle and start to quickly melt away at it's hull. The ship stows its weapons and starts to boost aways charging its FSD. I let up on the trigger and sink back into my seat looking out at the fleeing ship.

Did I just win?

I retract my weapons and turn back to charge my own drives to head home. The ship doesn't respond and look over to the right panel checking the modules. The Frame Shift Drive took a hard hit and was off line completely. I shake my head as I hit the comms to call Demetri.

All this for a Sidewinder?

"Demetri, I made it to Eotienses but got into a fight with an Eagle."

"Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. Just... Lost my jump drive. Sorry."

"Hm. It's fine. Just drop your beacon. Help is on the way."

I drop the beacon and let out a sigh. Minutes later several blips appear on my scanners. I flip the ship around thinking it was Demetri returning to save me. But no, what appeared before me wasn't him but a wing Imperial Couriers. Knowing no such ship was in my fathers crew, I quickly throw the little Sidewinder around to flee as their weapons open up on me.

"Demetri! More of em! Couriers!" I shout over the comms.

There was no response from him while the lasers fly all around me as I try to escape. Suddenly there's several flashes ahead of me. I bank hard to the right to avoid crashing into the monstrous Anaconda and three Fer de Lances that appear before me. The Ten Swords, the Anaconda in question, maneuvers between me and the chasing Couriers as they come to a stop.

"Attention Bandits of Mahei. This is Shinn Azuka. Leaders of the Ten Swords." My father's voice echoed over the local channel. "Retract your weapons and cut your engines or you will be fired upon."

There's a small pause as I fly around to the rear of the Anaconda, joining the formation as my shields flash blue with their return.

"Azuka. That Sidewinder belongs to us. Hand it and the pilot over and we'll happily leave your airspace." The Commander of the lead ship states.

"Hm. I'm afraid I can't do that. That pilot happens to be my daughter." My fathers replies and deploys the hardpoints on the Anaconda. The ship unleashes a blast of purple plasma that passes over the hull of the lead Courier. "I won't say it again. Retract your weapons and cut your engines." He adds.

Another moment of silence passes. The three ships then retract their weapons and kill their engines.

"We've done what you ask. What do you want now?"

"I already have what I'm after. Lead Commander. You are to give a message to your boss." My father states and snaps his fingers. The wing then unloads on two of the ships, quickly destroying them with incredible ease. "Next time he decides to double cross me. I will lay waste to him and his entire crew." Shinn adds and fires several blast into the remaining Courier. Forcing down its shields.
The vessel powers up, charges it FSD and turns to flee.

"So that's what all this was about? Payback?" I ask over the comms.

My father doesn't reply at first. Instead he links the OS of his ship to the Sidewinder.

"Viki. Begin the reboot." He says to the OS.

"As you wish."

The ship powers down and begins to run a full diagnostic and repair of itself. Taking about a minute to finally restart.

"We'll escort you to dock. If you're going to be flying that thing it's going to need some upgrades." Shinn says as the four ships turn to leave.

"Wait, what?" I respond with a bit of confusion on my face.

Ooh, an origin story.

Yeah. Figured it was time for one :D

Adams Market

My father's fleet surrounds the Sidewinder as I set the craft down on pad 14. I still couldn't believe what he had said to me. I'm going to be flying this? My brothers and sister all had time in the cockpit of various ships in my father's fleet. But my eldest brother Jin was the only one of us allowed to fly the Shattered Dreams on a regular bases. I couldn't help but wonder if this was real.

As I disembark from the ship, I'm greeted by my sister Mai. Mai and I are identical twins, sharing absolutely every physical trait, same soft facial features, same gray eyes and long jet black hair, same height of 4' 11 and petite figure.

"You made it back in one piece." She says in the same voice as mine.

"Of course." I respond lightly punching her shoulder. "Was there ever any doubt?"

"With you? Yes. I surprised you didn't use this thing as a missile."

I look off in distance with a grin.

"Well..."

"You rammed something? Come on Momoka."

"It was just an Eagle. And it's not like I blew it up."

"Right... What am I gonna do with you Sis." Mai responds shaking her head.

Though we looked the same, out personalities shared few similarities. Where as I was more immature with an all or nothing way of thinking, she was more like our mother. Reserved and calm, nurturing and protective of me even when she didn't need to do so. We may be twins, but Mai was far more mature, acting more like an adult than I ever did. So it came as no surprise that she would disapprove of my less than favorable tactics.

"You worry too much Mai. Besides, Daddy showed up with Alpha team anyway. I couldn't lose."

"Daddy? You know how Father is about us calling him that around the crew."

I look around the docking bay.

"You see any crew around." I respond mockingly.

Mai lets out a sigh not giving in to my taunting and turns to the ship.

"So. A Sidey. I figured you'd be stealing something more important."

I turn to face the ship as well.

"Yeah, you would think. But then again, they did end up sending Couriers after me too."

"Any idea why Father would want this thing?"

I shrug my shoulders.

"Since it's stock and has no cargo on board? Beats me." I reply as my wristcomms sounds off with a message.

< Momoka, your father wishes to see you on the Ten Swords >

"Looks like you're gonna find out." Mai says as we read the message.

She pats me on the back before heading off for the control tower.

"Wait, you're not coming with me?" I ask.

"Father wants me to co pilot Commander Zulu's Asp."

"Zulu? You? On a smuggling run?"

"I know right. Happy Birthday Mai, go do this job you hate." She responds in a sarcastic tone. "It's a quick run to Avalon. Maybe we'll get a real party when I get back." She replies with a wink.

She runs off to the tower and I shake my head looking back at the Sidewinder. This day was getting weirder by the second. First I'm sent to steal this thing and now Mai's co piloting for a job I usually do. I start to head to my father's ship wondering just what was going to happen next.

----

My father's ship was always surrounded by armed guard, making it borderline impossible for anyone outside the Swords to come on board. What added to that was the armed escort he sent to bring me to him. It was never easy for me to just come and go as I wanted. To some extent I understood the level of protection. But still, it wasn't exactly easy for me to slip away to meet friends. Coming aboard the Anaconda made me wonder if I should take my father as his word about me using the Sidewinder on my own.

Maybe I was reading too much into it.

We make are way passed the crew. All of whom stop and place their fist over their hearts in a salute to me as I make my way to the bridge. Being one of Shinn Azuka's children, everyone amongst the Swords showed me the utmost respect. To the point which I actually started to view myself as actual royalty. My escort opens the door for me and fall into formation as I enter the bridge. I step inside seeing my father standing with his back to me, his hands folded behind his back as he views a holographic display of the ship I had just stolen. His right hand man, a man who called himself Ghost stands next to him. The man turns to me and an evil grin crosses his face.

"And there's our meal ticket now." He says and bows to me in a mocking manner. "Momoka, my dear."

I tilt my head to the side slightly. Ghost wasn't like most of the crew. Late 40s, tall, 6' 4, muscular build, long silver hair he wears in a ponytail, he stood out wearing a heavy deep red coat with gold trim over a black suit and a lot of jewelry. He looked like a typical pirate and his attitude matched. A stark contrast to my father.

"Ghost." I respond refusing to bow back. "What did I do now?"

"With any luck, made us all very rich." He says with a laugh.

"Ghost." My father says still facing the hologram.

"Yeah boss?"

"Begin the decoding."

The man looks over to Shinn and sees his focus on his face. He nods, still with his grin on his face before turning to me with another bow and heading over to the comms station.

"Made us all rich? By stealing a Sidey? What's so special about it?" I ask.

Shin closest the display and turns to face me.

"You did a near perfect job out there."

"Yeah. I messed up with the eagle but I forced him to retreat."

"I am not referring to the eagle. In fact that ramming tactic was not only bold, but something I would do if had nothing to lose."

I raise my eyebrow

"Wait you saw that? How?"

He points to the collar of my flight suit. I reach up to and and find a tiny camera clipped to my suit.

"Demetri placed it on you in the generator room just before handing you the weapon." Of course he did. "You made your mistake shortly after."

I look up to him confused.

"I did? I stole the ship, pad 3 like he said. Was I supposed to head somewhere else to shake my tail before heading here?" I ask scratching my head as I try to think of where I went wrong.

"In the hanger with the ship. The brief gun fight with the two men. You wounded one of them."

"Yeah?"

My father folds his arms and inhales deeply.

"That was your mistake."

I pause thinking of the gun in my hand, pulling the trigger, the thoughts running through my mind at the time.

"You mean I didn't kill them."

"As I expected of you." He responds.

The tone of his voice sent a shiver down my spine.

"W... what does it matter? I got the ship. I got out in one piece. I did everything you told me to do."

He turns his back to me again cupping his hands together behind his back.

"You two are so much like your mother." He says.

I pause again. The thought of my mother lying in front of me on the floor, the look in her eyes that continue to hunt my dreams.

"I..."

"The sidewinder is being prepared as we speak with the best modules that can be fitted to it, but that won't be enough for you." He says cutting off my sentence before I could speak.

"Wait. I'm really getting that ship? But the Dreams..."

"You aren't ready for the Shattered Dreams. Besides, Jin is currently using it near Alioth." He says and brings the display back on. "I have another task for you once the ship is ready. In the meantime you have training with Demetri to get to."

"Training? Today? But it's our b..."

"You need to keep up with your training." He says cutting me off again. "Celebrations will wait for now. Understood?" I look to the floor feeling as though I've fail completely. "Understood?" He says again in a commanding tone.

I bow to him.

"Yes sir."

I turn and leave the bridge and my escorts follow close behind. Ghost chuckles and throws his arm over the headrest as he turn to face my father.

"So you're not gonna tell her?" He asks.

Shinn's look hardens as he glances over to him.

"This will push her. It's better that she doesn't know just yet."

"Could get her killed."

"Hm." Shinn responds with a chuckle and turns to leave the bridge. "Unlikely. As close as she is to Ayame, Momoka does have my will. She'll survive this."

My father leaves the bridge and Ghost shakes his head before turning back to the mountain of code on his display.

"Either way, the girl's given me enough to work with." He says aloud to himself.

My father had secured a dojo many years ago in order to have his children taught martial arts. I myself had already had years of Karate and Kendo training and as a result could easily defend myself against the average man. Demetri however was no average man. His Kendo training was far more intense than what I was used to, largely do to the fact that we used katanas instead of kendo sticks. Though the blades were dull, it was easy to make a mistake and end up seriously hurt.

Or worse.

Demetri had changed into the usual attire he wore to train me, a pair of worn down black jeans and bandages wrapped around his hands and feet and nothing else. I had changed into a pink sports bra and sweat pants. I wasn't ever allowed much more beyond that.

He unsheathed the katana I'd be using and tossed it to me. I stare at the blade as he draws his own weapon. My thoughts wonder back to the words my father spoke. I'm so much like my mother. I'm not sure why but I couldn't get it out of my mind. Demetri took to his stance and my mind snaps to the training. I raise my sword to defend as he rushes in, blocking his blade as it clashes with mine.

It goes without saying that his strength was greater than mine, he was nearly triple my size. Still I found it a struggle just to block his attack. I had learned the hard way how to handle the difference in power between us. I shift placement of my feet, crossing the left over the right before pushing off his blade in a spin of my body. He leans back from the force and turns to defend my sword as I complete the spend. The clang of metal signaling me to quickly plant my feet. He pushes me back with force and I instinctively raise the blade over my shoulder. I step forward, pulling the blade in vertical swing. He steps left avoiding the attack and raises his weapon's sheathe, hitting me hard in the side.

"That's one." He says as I stumble over.

I glance at his face, the same calm expression as he always has across it. I grip the katana tightly in both hands, raise it above me left shoulder before rushing at him again. I thrust the blade forward and again with the sheathe, he blocks my attack and hit me in the chest with the handle of his weapon. I stumble back again gripping my chest.

"Two." He states again.

My frustration beginning to show I return to my stance. He steps back and stores the weapon leaning in a ready position. I tilt my head, making the joints in my neck pop before I raise the blade. We both wait for a moment. He then blinks. I rush in, he draws this sword and swings. I jump the blade. On the drop to the floor he drags his foot across mine, tripping me. I stumble forward and he flips the edge of his sheathe up hitting me in the face. I fall back just as his blade clashes with mine, knocking it from my hand as I fall to the floor.

"Ouch! Dammit!" I cry out gripping my face.

He shakes his head as he pulls me to my feet and looks me over not seeing any wounds.

"Sloppy. Your form is off today." He lectures me.

"I'm sorry. I just..." I start to say and stop myself rethinking it. "It's nothing. Let's continue."

He looks at me in silence as I take my stance. He then shakes his head.

"No. We're done for today."

"But I..."

"As long as your mind is on whatever has your focus, there's a good chance I'll kill you." he says sheathing his sword as he walks over to our gear.

A look of disappointment flashes across my face before it's quickly replace by one of determination. I raise the blade in charging stances and rush at the man. His attention diverts to me on my approach and he pulls his weapon, swinging it with his full force once I'm in range. I duck under the katana as it narrowly misses my face, dropping to the floor and rolling passed the man. He spins around to strike at me on the floor and my hand raises with the sheathe from our gear gripped tightly, blocking the sword with it before it could reach me. Demetri pauses for a moment his eyes focused on my blade as the hovers just shy of his ribcage.

"You sure about that?" I respond with a smirk.

He chuckles as his eyes travel up the blade to the edge behind his back. I take notice of his position and my smirk starts to fade. His left hand had moved his sheathe to block my katana without my knowledge.

"Better. But..." He says and knocks my blade back. I push away using my cover and leap to my feet just in time to block his blade from hitting me in the neck. He swings the sheathe around and I'm barely able to stop it. My position off balance badly, he turns tossing me forward before hitting the back of my hand with the full force of the sword's cover. I lose the katana and spin around right as his blade reaches my neck. "Still sloppy." He says.

"Is it?" I reply looks down his blade to where his hand holds the weapon.

My sheathe was stopping his blade from moving any closer. He starts to laugh and lowers his weapon.

"Very good. That's my pupil." He says and puts away the katana. "I think you've earned a drink."

The smirk returns to my face.

Eotienses B 1

I watch from the co pilot's seat of Demetri's Cobra MK III as we closed in on our destination. In the distance of Gray Settlement rest lone paint faded Asp Explorer. From a distance the ship looked much older than it actually was, being only ten years old. The Cobra sets down next to the ship and Demetri punches in several inputs on his terminal. The lights of the Asp flash on, casting their beams into the canopy of the MK III. We disembark from the ship in making our way to the waiting Explorer.

It wasn't often Demetri allowed me onto his prized vessel, it was rarer the ship even moved from the surface of the planet. Once on board I quickly made my way for the living quarters of the ship and found out why that was. It was setup more like an apartment than a star ship, nearly all of the living quarters had been furnished like a bachelor pad, a L shaped sofa along the bulkhead with a black coffee table within foot rest range, a large plasma screen opposite of it, a full bar on the far side of chamber with an ancient jukebox just behind it and pool table where the would normally be a table for the crew to have a meal while out in space.

Demetri keys in a command on his wristcomms that triggers the jukebox to begin playing a jazz tune. I looked around the room as he walked over to the bar, taking notice to the many swords stored in a thick glass display. One in particular caught my eye. I step over to the weapon as he begins to pour us both a glass of vodka.

"You found it." I state touching the glass over the golden handle of the straight sword.

"Hm. Indeed. The Sword of Mercy, belonging to Edward the Confessor. It went missing the war triggered the expansion out into the stars."

"Part of the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom?" I ask stepping towards the bar, keeping my eye on the weapon.

Demetri nods and takes a sip of the vodka.

"Would you believe it turned up on Laird Enterprise?"

"Jotunheim? You're kidding?"

"Connors of all people. I got of from him for 500k and a ton of Eranin Whiskey. The fool. Thought it was a replica."

I sit at the bar across from him shaking my head.

"It's gotta be worth what? 500 mil?"

"If not more. It's an important part of humanities history." He says sliding my glass over to me.

"You know... There's a reason I'm not allowed into bars to drink this stuff."

"Ha. That's why we've flown all this way."

I laugh and take a sip of the vodka. The strong taste sending a shock through me. I look over to the case with my thoughts starting to wonder again, drifting back to my own personal history. Since I was old enough to be taught the controls of my father's Cobra, I behaving less and less like a child my age. As time went on I faced of things children rarely saw. Learning to fight, learning to con your way through the galaxy, facing life and death decisions.

Watching loved ones be taken from you by force.

Demetri glanced me over as I started to think about my mother and how she died, and how I was so powerless to stop it.

"Hell of a birthday right? Instead of cake and balloons I've spent the day getting shot at and beat up by my sensei."

"As is with life sometimes." he responds.

"I failed the mission didn't I? It wasn't about the Sidewinder was it?"

Demetri paused for a moment, stroking at his facial hair as if to think of the words to say.

"The mission is more than likely still going."

I look to the man.

"Is it?"

"Your father granted you the ship. Did he not." I nod in response. "Then that ship is extremely important."

"You know why?"

He shakes his head and takes another sip from his glass.

"Only Shinn and a handful of his leads would know. That said, it has to have some value given the level of protection it had."

I look down at my glass as a level of doubt starts to fill my head. It bothered me more and more what my father said to me. Why would he compare Mai and me to our mother. Why today of all days. I lift the glass of vodka and finish it off.

"He wants me to pass his stupid test. I get that. But..." I say and look over to the collection of weapons again.

"Your father is a mastermind Momo." Demetri states pulling my attention back to him. "Everything Shinn does is part of a master plan. From the formation to his wings to the choice of gun in the hands of his guards, the man is playing an infinite game of chess against the galaxy. A game he is always ten steps ahead in." He explains and refills my glass.

"That includes us? I'm just another pawn?"

Demetri tops off his glass and walks around the bar to his weapon case. He remains silent for a moment as he drinks from the glass.

"No. I've seen how he treats you. You're very different from the rest of his children."

"I sure as hell don't feel like it right now."

"Because he's making his move. Preparing you for his next." He says turning to me and gesturing to my drink. "Savor that taste princess. I have a feeling we won't be getting another anytime soon." He adds and takes another sip.

I pick up the glass and stand from the bar as a slight grin crosses my face.

"Last time you said that was right before the Avalon job." I say and put my lips to the glass, stopping as the memories of that job shoots through my head. "Wait. You don't think..."

Demetri lets out a deep laugh and puts his hand on my shoulder.

"My dear, we are pirates after all." He says.

I smile and look at my glass then raise it to his in a toast.

"This just went from one of the worse birthdays ever to one of the best."

(OCC:Just a quick little heads up to anyone wondering where I've been. Since it's been awhile since my last post I thought I let you guys know what's going on in the world of the pink haired smuggler from Eotienses. I know I kinda teased this story being relatively short, due to things in both my personal life and in ED I've had to put this particular storyline on hold while I do a massive rewrite of the whole thing. Some of what I had planned was hitting a little too close to home so I decided I should take a different route here. It may be a little while before the next few parts arrive since I need to rewrite nearly everything, but I promise I will have more to come. ;) )

I know I kinda teased this story being relatively short, due to things in both my personal life and in ED I've had to put this particular storyline on hold while I do a massive rewrite of the whole thing. Some of what I had planned was hitting a little too close to home so I decided I should take a different route here. It may be a little while before the next few parts arrive since I need to rewrite nearly everything, but I promise I will have more to come. ;) )

All good hun, I make the rounds through here every once in a while to check on things. Like all good things, stories take their own time to tell.
