Well, I'm a huge bear fan so more bears would be a big thumbs up from me. If we could only have one more, I'd choose the Andean/Spectacled bear, they're so handsome.
I'll gladly take all of these bears..aand the Teddy bear as an exhibit animalAndean (Spectacled) Bear - always the first animal I see every time I've visited my local zoo (many many years) so they are essential to me
Eurasian Brown Bear - we need our own bear
Sloth Bear - very unique especially with their fluffy coat
American Black Bear - just falls down the pecking order.
This is how I feel about the Eurasian brown bear. I'm glad we didn't get a second North American bear in the base game, though. They should have been in the base game instead of the HBB...
My feeling is... if we needed another bear, why not the Sloth or Spectacled bears? If we needed a reskin, why not the ABB, so that we had another species represented? And if we needed a grizzly reskin, why not the more commonly-kept (in Europe) EBB?This is how I feel about the Eurasian brown bear. It wasn't about need; the whole base game roster is buffed out by reskins. My feeling is... if we needed another bear, why not the Sloth or Spectacled bears? All of those other than the Himalayan brown bear use unique models, and at the very least the dragon is unique enough to justify its inclusion IMO. But yeah, the base roster was pretty padded-out.It wasn't about need; the whole base game roster is buffed out by reskins.
Aldabra giant tortoise, Siberian tiger, Himalayan brown bear, Komodo dragon, Thomson's gazelle. They did it to push their "over 100 animals" line.
Not really - some minor adjustments here and there but otherwise the same model. Especially the tigers. All are about as unique as the Arctic wolf. The gazelle is probably the most unique of the bunch, rather than the dragon. All of those other than the Himalayan brown bear use unique models
I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I don't totally see it. Same rig? Sure, maybe. But the head, tail, and proportions are all pretty different. Ultimately though, my point wasn't that the dragon looked more unique -- just that, unlike the Himalayan Brown Bear, and perhaps moreso than any other of the animals listed, it added an iconic zoo animal which, to me, the game would feel incomplete without. I could imagine a zoo game without a second tiger, tortoise, or a gazelle (but I'm glad we got all of those picks, as they ARE realistic alternate picks which add that bit of biodiversity without much effort), but I think one without one of the most well-known lizards in the world (and one of the more well-kept in zoos) might feel a bit lacking. Not really - some minor adjustments here and there but otherwise the same model. There's no real argument - the point I was making that they didn't add these animals because they wanted a diverse roster, they added them because they were easy filler species to buff out the roster in general.I don't mean to sound argumentative, but I don't totally see it. Oh, undoubtedly. But if we were going to get filler picks, I think most of them are pretty good. I do wish we got a few clones/clone-ish animals to buff the New World/Oceania roster -- emus, american black bears and caribbean flamingos. There's no real argument - the point I was making that they didn't add these animals because they wanted a diverse roster, they added them because they were easy filler species to buff out the roster in general.
