The beauty of this game is distracting!

I have been playing this game since Beta 1 started, so a few months already. During that time I have docked many times, yet sometimes I am distracted by how jaw droppingly beautiful this game is! This morning I came in to dock at yet another Orbis type space station, and it must have been a combination of the angle I approached it, and the way the light struck it from the nearby star, but I was struck by its beauty. The station just looked so real that I wanted to touch it.

I was so mesmerized that I, after many months of docking practice, I forgot to apply for docking clearance!

The trespass warning came and I was thankfully able to reverse thrust out of the airlock before the station took action against me. That was a relief, just goes to show that even the most mundane actions in Elite Dangerous has it's surprises...

I don't always forget to apply for clearance...

But when I do I'm 200m from the docking portal with a hold full of stolen goods, in silent running, with my thrusters turned off...

Agree. 3D graphics as a whole have come a long way. Also good thing they reduced the strenght of the dock's forcefield. I used to crash my ship in it atleast once a day.

Wait till you see it in the Oculus at true scale..you will need a jaw replacement!

Today, i've entered multiple stations with a Jean Michel Jarre laser show concert in full swing! Scarey as hell as you enter the station with a full ships cargo containing all your monetary worth :(

Its kind of got the GTA5 problem. You set out to play it properly but end up just spending 2 hours blowing stuff up. Except in this game you set out to play it properly and end up exploring an ice ring for 2 hours.
