Horizons The Best Parking Places Should Be Reserved for Local Faction Allied Visitors

So it may be the Imperial in me leaking out - but I really prefer the parking places in the far back of the station. I hate cruising through the mail slot at 80+ m/s (below the speed limit) and having to hit the brakes to park in a "slot close" spot. Or worse yet, overshoot the spot and noob flip back to find my spot.

Yeah yeah I COULD memorize the spot locations, but c'mon - if I've run enough missions for the local controlling faction to earn my own space - pretty much with MY NAME on it. Shoot I'd even PAY 100 credits every time I land to get one of those sweet spots in the back of the bus.

Don't get me wrong, I really do relish those warm and fuzzy greetings from the station command folks - but I deserve some VIP treatment here.

I do understand this may not be possible in open play at busy stations - but how bout for private group and solo?

Indeed the compass works - Thank you for a very practical and cogent suggestion! I was looking for a slice of immersion and "belonging" to the local community. Parking seemed like a harmless perk for status.

It's easy even without the compass. I never use it. Just come in the slot in the same orientation everytime. Provided you use the same pad size most of the time, you only have a couple numbers to memorize. I mostly land on large pads when I do lots of landings (trading/missions) and after I noticed that 24 and 25 were right in front of me and below, it took me no time to figure out where the others were.

The best parking spot is pad 25
pad 24 is ok
everything else I can take or leave.
Thats all you really have to know for large ships.

as I finally realised from a thread in the last couple of days showing the placement of all the pads.....(I was wondering why I keep getting the "close to mailslot" pads these days) - there are only 3 large pads at the back of the station versus 6 at the "front" near the mailslot. Law of averages then.

All true about those large pads. Not too many to choose from. But I would humbly suggest people with a bit of play time in have many different ships to run around in given the mission profiles that favor medium and under-sized ships. Pretty sure folks don't reconfigure one large ship for everything. So the quantity of potential "slot close" spots does increase quite a bit when you factor in the small and medium ships. I do want to point out that I'm not really struggling with parking, it's more about looking for a quality of life perk after grinding for local rep. I must say it is truly awesome how folks in the community have really sussed out how to optimize gameplay in Elite. You guys are great!
