The big 3 factions : Gains, Losses, changes - info wanted!

I have a question regarding your faction gains and losses :

I have yet to hear about anyone who has gained a reputation gain in one of the big three... Empire, Alliance, Federation, could anyone confirm if they have managed friendly or allied?

Specifically, interested on what or how many sub factions you gained friendly or allied in before the big one changed. It would appear to be very very very hard to get this to move... I would say ive performed 65 missions for a few sub factions affiliated with the big one, and not that a single "oh aren't you doing well!" bip...

Also, could you specify if you have found it easy to loose a lot of faction very quickly... I ask this because a lot of players had their rep ruined by a bug from pre release.

I would hope that it takes an incredible solid amount of work to gain a reputation for the main factions, as in "you wont achieve that in a week" :)

Sofar I've only seen 'rank up' missions for Federation (it popped for me in a 'friendly' sub-faction station).
Havent been to Empire space, and havent seen a rank up in Alliance space yet.

I am allied with one of the Alliance organisations, having done a whole load of missions for them. I am friendly with a number of others, since I've been doing a whole load of missions. My Alliance standing is still "neutral" overall though, but the little blue upward arrow is there most of the time. It's a shame we can't see how close we are to making that overall status change.

I suffered from the bug where I was hunting pirates in Federation space and it was marking me down for it. By the time I noticed, they absolutely hated me, so now the overall Federation is "hostile".

Interestingly, not ALL Federation organisations are hostile towards me. I'd say it was about 50-50. If I travel to a Federation system and encounter any security services, they will instantly fire on me. Usually there are multiple stations owned by multiple organisations, some of which are hostile and some not. This means I cannot approach any of the hostile stations that are not outposts, because the security services will fire on me (despite the station not firing, and even granting me docking permission). Outposts are usually fine because they often don't have extra security vessels but some of them do, and if they do, I can't dock there either.

This has an interesting side-effect: I cannot do transportation missions where the destination is a hostile Federation station, but the mission DOES NOT TELL ME beforehand. If the destination is in another system, THERE IS NO WAY to tell if the station's owner is hostile towards me without first travelling to this system to find out. You can see what organisations own which stations in a system, but to see their reputation, the only way I have found is to actually travel to the system.

My main focus since that bug has been raising my overall Federation reputation so that I don't get fired on. I'd say hundreds of missions later, they still mostly hate me.

Thanks gents, looking for more feedback from others if possible. The reputation system appears to be very broken... and everyone is unsure about it...

Just looked at my status with the Federation and noticed that it has turned from Friendly into Allied. I have done lots of trading and a few bounties combat rank is Competent. My rank with the Federation is Midshipman. I have put lots of hours in.
Will eventually join the Empire but as I spawned in Federation space thought I would just keep going at it to see what effect it would have on my Status.

This is good news. Anyone else got any feedback?

I must have done a good few hundered missions for Alliance factions in a few systems.
Freidnly/Allied with about 8-10 minor factions.

Big Alliance rep still Neutral, although has the blue arrow next to it.

I am friendly with the Federation, Allied with about half a dozen factions (about 50/50 fed/indep split) and of Midshipman rank. I focused on doing a whole load of missions for just about everyone in a system I claimed as 'home' and its neighbors.

im pretty sure u gain main faction rep only with combat contract because i have done a lot of trading (normal good and rare comodities)a lot of contract i have 2 3 allied faction few friendly but still Neutral with Fed and my rank is midshipman(and cant gain the next rank maelstrom assasination quest is bugged) with them.
Now im testing the same thing wth imperial easy rep with slave and imperial slave just few hour im alrdy friendly with some of them and still neutral with main faction but no rank atm.

Got recruit with Fed in Gamma2 but not moved on from there. Sometimes I get a blue 'up' arrow but that has disappeared a couple of times; don't know if it's because I shot the wrong 'wanted' ship, or got caught with illegal cargo once or twice, or just took a mission for the wrong faction. I have tried to be much more careful about Faction since release, but still not much progress. I am friendly with at least six Fed-aligned factions (allied with one) plus a couple of independents but not much movement on major positive rep for me.

I am hostile with an Empire Faction currently, and though their security services attack on sight, I can still use the stations to dock and pick up missions, you just have to be quick or stealthy flying in and out! Making sure you don't bounty hunt a friendly faction is a bit cumbersome IMO and involves memorising lists of generic faction names, often with no clue in them to 'major' alliegance. Also, some nominally 'allied to the same major' factions don't seem to like each other, as taking missions from more then one gives you blue arrows to one faction you are trying to help, and red arrows to the other. I'm sure this has to affect your rep with them and may explain why some people aren't progressing.

Edit: Actually wasn't there a dev post asking this info? Perhaps this thread is a duplicate?

Yeah, I paid some attention to the numbers, but they are rough estimates.

I was Allied with 2 systems and Friendly with maybe a dozen, when my Federation reputation turned to Friendly.

I found one cheap source of Gold and traded systematically to different fed systems until they turned Friendly.
I'd say... oh, 200.000 credits does one system, meaning your profit in selling to that system, not value.
Just to throw out a number, maybe 10 million in total profits.

I also did some donation missions every now and then, but it was mainly trading.
Some systems definately turned Friendly faster with one or two donations to the ruling faction.

All federal ships are now green on my radar.

Now going for Allied, I will definately keep a list of systems I've traded to, and come back in a Cobra to run missions.

Got my Empire reputation to "allied" yesterday... roughly a week of doing missions, bountyhunting for the right people and a bit of naval and warzone stuff... never lost a level of reputation with an imperial minor faction, although 3-4 occasions of "stray shot hit authority" did happen indeed :)

As a result all minor factions tied to the Empire are my allies now, yeah. It's a good feeling when you dock at an imperial station in the middle of nowhere and they greet you with a humble "Welcome honoured ally"... Gives you a sense of accomplishment!
