As for the Alliance, the OP forgets that FD are all raging Imperials, they only mention the Feds to try and appear 'balanced' if they could have had power play right from the start they would have probably relegated the Alliance to being merely a power play faction instead of the 'not quite' major power status it currently has.

Says who? Do you have any actual information about this?
Why would the Alliance have a faction specific ship? The only one would be the Sirius corp (independent) whose Atemis ship or whatever it called was destroyed. This would open up the Sirius Corp branded Ships, which I guess would technically be Alliance.
Core Dynamics have a contract with the Federation, and Gutamaya do with the Empire, which is what is making them 'exclusive' to those factions.

On-topic: I don't see the reasoning for exclusive trade ships. The exclusive ships have military functions. And then there's the issue of what would you base the exclusivity on? There's no Alliance ranking.

I was under the impression Sirius Corp was an independent faction both in PP, lore and minor faction allignment, considering how powerful and influential they are I doubt they'd need to join the alliance for security especially if they control most of the galaxies supply of large scale generators.
In Elite the Boa was a slightly smaller more Advanced Python
In FE2\FEE the Boa was Larger than the Anaconda but smaller than the Panther
Depends on which would fit in the existing ship tables I guess.
For Aesthetics I hope it will be a Zorg Petersen Group ship
Exactly. The original Boa, from Elite, was described as being slightly smaller than the Python but possessing a larger cargo capacity. I don't recall much about the Boa from FE2\FEE partly because I never really liked the flight dynamics of those games so I didn't spend too much time playing them.
Zorgon Peterson would be a perfect manufacturer of the Boa... this could be Zorg's answer to Faulcon Delacy's Python... keep the basic size of the Python but with a more pronounced lifting-body frame like what we see in the Adder/Hauler/FDL designs. I'd also like to see the cockpit moved back giving us a clear view of the front-mounted hardpoints.
At first I've read 'Boa FIGHTER', which totally gave me wrong impression about what this thing should be. Now I understand why people talk about cargo capacity
Strangely, In this poll I came across from december 2013, the Boa was the large ship most people wanted to see.

IIRC the Panther Clipper can make it though the mailslot, it's just only got inches of clearance.
There is plenty of precedent for Alliance specific ships. In Frontier and First Encounters, the Alliance had the largest shipyards in the Galaxy. The main ship in the background plot was also an Alliance ship. They also made capitol ships for the Alliance.

As for no Alliance ranking, well there have been several threadnaughts on the already. Yes, it is something else we want. The Alliance operates a very different system to the other major powers, with individual systems militias coming together to form fleets. So there is no reason you could not have Alliance militia ranks.
People seem to forget the Alliance was forged in war. By kicking both the Federation's and Empire's butts, at the same time, on Alioth.
maybe the panther clipper is done allready, but they have a huge problem with the auto-docker to get it through..
