While in Beta, I only wanted to get the biggest ship in the shortest time possible. But come Gamma, when I first started out with just a handful of credits and my sidewinder, I started to experience an emotion that I haven't had in a very long time in any game: I grew attached to it.
So while I was making my way towards Sol (Didn't we all?) I realized that selling it won't happen, even when I move on.
Working my way up the upgrade-path with exploration at first (Still I cannot describe the feeling you get when you are literally the first human to visit a star system...) and now some light to medium bounty hunting, I turned my Sidewinder into my trusty companion. I dare to say that it turned me into a better pilot as well.
And when it was finally time to tuck it in the berth of Dalton Gateway, I did so with the promise that it would accompany me wherever I go down the road.
