The Briar patch?

So I'm out on the far rim, searching for Earth-likes at over 64000 Ly from Sol and i happened upon this weird little patch of class Y stars. A really dense clump of the coolest form of brown dwarf. You can see how thinly spread the surrounding stars are. I can't imagine what would cause this patch to form?

All it needs is a ringed Earth-like in the middle and it would be the Briar patch for sure.

However, as you can see from the difference between the last 2 pics, first realistic, then scoopable only view, there aren't many chances of finding one...but I'm still gonna take a look. :)

I came across several of these when exploring the rims. Don't know if there is any science behind them or it's just a quirk of the procedural generation. If you do find anything interesting in them I'll be kicking myself for not looking closer :D

Maybe it was a Friday afternoon for the Stellar Forge.

Good luck, and beware not to run out of fuel. I doubt event he Fuel Rats would go 64,000 to bail you out. :)

Nice find! I'm in your vicinity ;-)

But it can't be the Briar Patch, it's too far away. Remember that Federation ships travel at much slower speeds than our vessels. On "regular" max speed, it would take Voyager >70 years to traverse the Galaxy. We can do it in roughly 1 to 2 days if our helm is manned 24/7.
