The CG at Morai and why I cannot help but consider uninstalling Elite Dangerous.

Now a small Disclaimer.
I am Shiftworker. 30 Years old.
And per Week if I can get enough free time to get 6 Hours into ED thats quite much of my Time.
My Total Assets after way more than 200 hours in the Game are 270 Million.

Back then I startet with 1000 Credits and a Sidewinder.
Community Goals? Powerplay? Whats that.

When I had a week off and blasted a whopping 20 hours into ED and finally got my Clipper. I was proud like Oscar.



Now lets do a Jump.
Because this weekend. Something happened that blasted all bounds of reason.
An CG which could not be more standart. Paid out 10 times the usual amounts.
Meaning that even the 50% bracket got 200 million.


Worse it was an Imperial CG I didnt check cause I am a Federal Pilot.



Nah do you see a connection?
Yep. Anyone who invested maybe 3-5 hours into that CG makes me look like an Total Moron for having spend over 200 Hours gathering a laughable 270 million credits.
I am frustrated beyond measure and feel stupid to have bothered playing this Game. Because apparently it would have been better to just wait apparently.



And see guys.
If you wanted to do something about the Grind. Then sorry but you FAILED EPIC.


Not only is this incredible unfair to Federation and Alliance Pilots.
But worse it makes the effort others spend in the past look like a sad joke.

If you want to reduce the Grind one way would be to reduce Equipment Prices and Reinburse owners of Equipment the difference.

But heck. Pumping money into the players with free give aways like this.
Must be the most stupid thing I ever saw.



Thanks for turning my efforts into a joke.
Given i somehow overcome the frustration i feel when starting the game and thus get a next time.
I.ll be smarter and not bother wasting time on this game anymore.Instead Simply waiting for free giveaways like this.

The CG payouts were an error.

I missed out on this CG too because i was busy all week, which is a shame.
I regularly miss CGs because of work, and sometimes simply because they finish before I even get there.

I'm not sour about it though.
Sure, a few 100m would have gone towards my Corvette saving fund, but to be honest, it's not worth crying over.
I don't even have the rank yet.
(Doesn't help that i keep doing Empire or Independent missions )

There are plenty of other ways to make money in ED, Sothis/Ceos is probably the best.

Back to the point,
Your efforts are not in vain.

Unlike the newbies who did the CG, you have likely learned the skills for flying larger ships, and treat them accordingly.
All these newbies flying around in FDLs, Python's and Anacondas, are soon going to be raging on about how they cost too much to run and keep getting shot down.

I wouldn't worry about it. I missed it too because I have been working on my Sirius permit of all things. I have only 50M in the bank and am saving for a Python, so the cash would have come in handy, I'm Imp. too!

But, the fact that others have benefitted does not change my game in the slightest, I will carry doing what I want as I have for the last 18 months and still have my own objectives. The Python, when it comes, will be that much more of an achievement because it is not the outcome of a windfall or an exploit.

At the end of the day the only person you are competing against is yourself.

Honestly said most of that frustration is not really on others.
I play private group so thats annoying a bit but not the big issue.
The big issue is that i feel stupid to have grinded and wasted valuable time when i could just have waited for CGs to become insane money give aways.



And no.
Its not an error.
Customer Support confirmed that the Payouts of the CG were correct and valid.

It was simply put.
A money giveaway. You could say it was an event to give free Anacondas out for new players.
A cheap PR action to attract a fast userbase increase without any real improvements.....

I bought 4 Type 9's with the credits and parked them so that I had my original cash of 200 mil credits, since then I have done the 2 CG's and got 50 mil for narcotics and hopefully 25 mil for tobacco with no more than 10 runs combined.
The point of this is that you could be doing these right now.
I have about 6 hours a week and spend it on CG's.

Actually, 50% payout was around 138 million. 25% was around 220 million or so, if I remember right, and that was for dumping around 2800t of stuff at Morai.

That's        logic. That's like saying you look like a moron for working to make money to support yourself because other people occasionally win the lottery.

And just for comparison, my total assets, after more than 440 hours in the game, and getting the 50% CG payout, is only 185 million CR. You think you're the only one with life issues? I may not be working, but my wife is active duty USN and is only home for about 3 hours per day, leaving me alone to care for our two special needs kids (one autistic, one severe ADHD due to brain trauma at birth). I'm essentially working from 3AM when I help get my wife ready for work, to 8PM at night when I put my kids to bed. I was able to sacrifice just enough sleep to barely scrape my way into the 50% category, while keeping doctors appointments, therapy sessions, and getting them ready and registered for school.

If you need to do as well as others, or get lucky like some of us did, to enjoy the game, then I think you're right in feeling you should uninstall.

Money is not the end goal of the game. Stop comparing yourself to other players and just enjoy the game. If you can't sit in a stock Sidewinder and have fun, you need the bigger ships to have fun, you're doing it wrong. Kill that ambition - it's a more casual game than you'd think.

Do I think this CG was a mistake? Yes. However, I don't really care about it even though I didn't get a penny out of it.
This kind of attitude stinks to be honest.

I remember back in the day I didn't have collector and prospector limpet controllers. I tried mining. I hated mining.

But I just love filling up with 100 tons of painite selling for 90k. And it's oh so soothing. Those mining beams just take the edge away with their song.

No running to catch fragments.

No wondering if the rock is good or not. Just hit it with the prospector, if it's not good, move on. If it is.... well, then we have that soothing rhythm.

I don't even know what my playing time is. I go off and on, few days at a time, and I'm not salty at all if I missed out on an easy payout.

I have way more than 1000 hours logged in this game and my balance is just over 80 million. I don't see it as a problem. I could make more if I by doing Sothis missions or went searching for CG's, but I would be board. That's not why I play.

If you are in the game to get credits I'm sure there are plenty of people who can point out quick ways of doing that. You should not get hung up on other people making more than you. It really doesn't matter. You can be proud of your achievement because of how you made your credits rather than how much you made.

But in the First Place if I had participated it would not change my frustration.
Cuz i would still consider my efforts worthless as apparently i got more credits out of an 5 hour effort rubbish than i got out of my efforts since beta.
So it would not change anything about my opinion that these rubbish free money giveaway events destroy the game and turn the efforts of older players into a joke.
