The Chieftain: Ruined

What is this "weather" thing you speak of?

We are eventually promised atmospheric landings.

At any rate those protruding engines would be structural risks no matter where the landing gear is. As long as the struts are strong enough to support the weight of the spacecraft, it's actually better to use them as load bearing struts than if the engine struts were entirely orphaned. Orphaned structures on a fast moving object like a space craft tend to be in danger of unplanned detachments, and if you're going to strengthen those struts enough to prevent that, they can probably take the required weight anyway.

Nah, its not ruined at all.

With the landing gear in the rear nacelles, when it's parked it looks like a dog taking a dump.

Partly true, but I see that the cockpit cabin doesn't turn in your direction with an awkward stare when "landed". Totally not like a dog taking a dump at all.

It's a fine ship .. every dog has it's day .. :D

We have the T9 euphemistically dubbed the - Space Cow, is the Chieftain now the Space Dog?

.. Oh and do we call the SRV in a Chieftain a "Rover" - OK, Ok .. I couldn't help myself .. :p
