The Clipper Appreciation Thread

The ship for those that appreciate the finer things in life, the Imperial Clipper is the meeting point between cutting edge technology and achingly beautiful design.

I just picked mine up and could not be prouder. Her name is Windradyne and she is thirsting for adventure.

My plan is to kit her out and have Windradyne as an allrounder. Able to react accordingly to any situation the Galaxy throws at her.

So my fellow Clipper owners, what's her name and what's her game?

Olympus and she is for combat only my first one was for trading then traded her in for Python traded that in for type 9 now i have my IC back and she is just about fully kitted out

Sadly I don't own one yet.... but it is my dream!
I was considering naming it "Resistance is Character building"... But that is just ripping off Ian M Bank.

Got mine yesterday. Sold off my Type 7 and had 20mill in cash. Got it up to an A grade FSD and 4A Fuel Scoop (man is the thing thirsty), the rest lightweight D grade for now. Got me 160T of cargo space, which will probably drop a bit in order to fit in more toys. Like a Repair Module and FSD Interdictor. For now it is fine as a well armed trader.

I'm not in the habit of naming ships, but if I had to it would probably be "Beer & Coffee #8" :)

Named mine "Vindicator"
Using to settle intergalactic "disputes" in the name of the emporer.
I will also end anything with a "Wanted" label foolish enough to interdict me.

Beautiful ship. just a shame the placement of the hardpoints mean the Large hardpoints almost need to be turreted, using Burst lasers on mine.:(

The Normandy, because it was the closest thing to the namesake in E:D. I sold it for a Python right before they made it so you absolutely had to get one at Baron, I was only at Squire :( grinding for appropriate rank now.

My favourite ship in the game so far. It carries almost as much as the T7 but unlike the T7 is is fun to fly and properly kitted out can hold it's own against most things. I still have to avoid high level Pythons and Anacondas but anything else is space dust if it tries to attack me.

The cockpit is amazing. Fantastic all round visibility. Great for screenshots.

Mine is nowhere near kitted out yet. I'm saving up for some better shields. I'm running on C6 at the moment which is why I'm having to avoid the really nasty ships but I'm gradually building up my cash to upgrade it. The higher level equipment is extremely expensive.

I'm going round the 70 stop rare run that was posted the other day and as I'm a bit of a completionist I don't like to move on from a rare station until I've got my full allocation. With the T7 I had all I could do was sit and wait until the full load had respawned. With the Clipper I go and get what's there initially and then go and camp the Nav Beacon hunting for pirates then when I've had enough pew pew I go back, cash in the bounties which usually amounts to a couple of hundred k and get the rest of the rares then move on.

You have to know when to run though. If an enemy gets through your shields and starts taking your health down it can get VERY expensive. About 100k for each 10% of damage.

The main downside is the pitifully small fuel tank. When you're travelling long distance you really only get two 18+ light second jumps before you start getting paraniod and have to refuel. That's easy to deal with though. A 3A fuel scoop refills the tank from half way in a couple of circuits of a star refilling as 150-170 lumps/s (Does anybody know what the measurement actually is), and if I go for more than two jumps without a scoopable star I quickly replot my route using economical which sees me right within a jump or two and then it's back to fastest plotting.

It's far too expensive to use as a dedicated bounty hunting ship but as an armed trader I don't think there's anything to match it.

Quite solidly the best interceptor killer I've had the luxury of flying, well deserved after it's stupid mass issues which it used to have prior to 1.1.
Glory to the Empire and her lady, for she is our jewel.
