The cobra fanclub!

Let's get some positivity in these forums. I'd like to hear from all of you cobra fans why you like it so much. I personally like it for its diversity. If I am bored of hunting I can switch some stuff around and boom it is an explorer. I have sworn to never leave it. I once traded it in for an asp and a few hours later I just missed the speed etc for hunting so I bought it back. Well I told you my story. Now it is time for you guys!

Cobra fan here, for the same reasons - it's a genuine all rounder. Tough, reliable, versatile, economical, spacious (dat cockpit) and looks awesome. Me and my Cobra will be hunting bounties and wandering the galaxy together for a while yet :D

There are faster vessels,
It's not the best toy.
There are other ships
that give you joy;
but the Shady Lady is the
girl for me:
"Load New Commander",
My wireframe Mkiii.

It's fast, cheap to run, good in combat, can haul moderate cargo sizes, can do exploration, and the engine sounds like the Millenium Falcon.
It's a pretty great ship.

Well said. I just remember I don't have a name for my cobra yet. I know what I am going to do for the next hour.

What ships are faster than the cobra? It can get over 440 m/s in a boost and keep boosting continuously before dropping bellow 400 m/s.

Amen! And I used to fly a Viper solely for bounty hunting. Then I discovered the Mk-III "Fighting" Cobra: awesome thrusters, amazing pitch rate, A4 shields, better weapons placement than the Viper (I run a class-2 gimbaled beam laser, a class-2 gimbaled multi-cannon, and two class-1 gimbaled multi-cannons), and even room for A4 shield cell bank. I also do exploration on the side, so I always have an advanced discovery scanner and a detail surface scanner equipped at all times. Also, 16 tons of fuel when I have to go long range (I usually like to keep it at 8 tons, though) and 16 tons of cargo. And all that good stuff still gives me over 22 LY of jump range, something I wouldn't have been able to do with my old Viper. I don't like the restricted cockpit visibility, though, of both the Viper and Cobra. I miss the Eagle's unparalleled "combat" canopy!

It always makes me think prohibition booze runner
fast and slightly shady
definately a smugglers boat
fast enough to run and hard enough to bite when caught
Such fun

I like the noise it makes and it is a tough little ship. More than once I have fumbled, hit boost by mistake and survived hitting a station wall.
Fast too!

Grettings!
Another Cobra fan boy here. I think we all agree on all those points youy guys have mentioned. For me, aside from all those things something that turn me on very badly with this ship is the look. Awesome, classy and very sexy design, in a simple way. I just love it.
Plus the fact i like its always a challenge against other bigger ships, in the way that it is not a ship with easy mode button in it. Very fun to pilot.

My wireframe Cobra was my travelling companion back in Gamma, and was capable of fending off NPCs everywhere while maintaining a 22-LY jump range - enough to get me to the Core and back in one piece. My first love in the game.

I like my trusty Cobra MkIII, I can either shoot things (badly) or do some trading. I've just tweaked it to have 36T cargo to help pay the bills, but still have a few toys to get stuff done (scoops, scanners etc). Most of my components are now A rated and my jump range is 18-20ly, a little less than I'd like, but not too bad.

Once I've finished off upgrading to A everywhere I'll probably save up for a Type 6 for trading and scale back the cargo to be a bit more nimble and offensive. I won't be selling the Cobra!

It has an impressive load out, everything from basic lasers to the Plasma cannons. There's no task it masters but it can do any of the mwell enough to turn a profit. It's the perfect ship for someone like me that doesn't want to be tied down to one carreer path.

Yesteday, I was given three of those 'station must have x" missions As I did those, I was able to collect bounties from failed interdictions,do some more cargo runs and scan a couple of suns along the way to my destination.

My range is 22/18.7 or something like that. My ship is arned with 2 class 1 gimbiled beam lasers and 2 class 2 gimbiled ACs. I've tried missile, plasma cannons and just about everything else. This is the set up that works best for me.

Cobra fan here, especially in wireframe livery. Great in combat, fast, good jump range, enough cargo space for light hauling and missions and cheap to run. The only reason I don't fly it much is that the cockpit - there's a gap down the right hand side that really bugs me. I wish FD would fix it!

I would rather stay quiet because the Cobby is such a good ship at so many things. It hauls, it goes the distance and it fights so well that there is no doubt why they have been building it for so long. You can prise mine out of my stiff dead hands.

I've tried many times to let her go... but I'm still in my special edition Chrome Cobra. I've learned to fly/fight with her strengths and am so habituated to relying on fast pitch and lightning roll, I'm not sure I'm safe in anything else. PLus she can run away from anything but another Cobra if things get iffy. The only time I'm unfaithful is when for regime change reasons I need to haul a lot.... in which case I buy and re-sell a Space Cow

Greetings

I miss my Cobra, I'm currently in a T9 which I have also become very fond of until I reach Elite in trading, just a few 100 mil shy.

The Cobra is my goto ship for combat and everything not trading, it's the ship I have spent the most time in and my all round favourite ship in the game.

Just a few 100 mil more and I'll be back at home in my MK III.
