First post, so a little about me:
Am a graduate of the first version of Elite in the 80's (Electron) and have been playing for ED a few weeks.
I decided it was time for some PvP interactions, so headed over to Banki to side with the federation. After a few hours gaming (spread over a couple of days), I realised I was actually batting for the wrong side (I was thick and didn't read things properly...). That is to say, I was earning credits for killing federation vessels, yet I was still progressing for the community goal...
Ok, so searched this forum and it seems this is a bug.
Now, a bug is one thing, and it'll be fixed at some point, but this got me to think more about what was being presented from a story point of view (on galnet news), to what was actually happening in the game.
Basically, you fly to a station that is in active rebellion against the federation, you then sign up at that station to defend the federation (to attack that stations faction), go off and fight in conflict zones (against that station), then fly back to that station to get repaired, rearmed and earn your kill credits (with no sanction from that station). So the faction is supporting it's own destruction, which then throws the entire premiss of the community goal down the toilet.
Have I got this right, or am I being thick?
