Ships The Courier's not a bad little ship, actually

I was a bit dismissive of the Imperial Courier at first, particularly its engine sound (vacuum cleaner or blender), but now I've got used to it I think it's a fun little ship. Here's my loadout:

I kind of got bored massacring everything in my A-rated Anaconda so I'm enjoying dogfights in this little sprite. I find chaff very useful. So far managed to eliminate everything including Dangerous/Deadly Clippers, Pythons, Dropships and Anacondas.

Anyone using two beam lasers? Does that draw too much on the capacitor?

It is indeed a fun little ship. Was in a vulture, then bought one when i got past master rank. The vulture's better.... but I found the courier fun.

I tried a 3 beam build, and while it's satisfying, having them all firing at once, it doesn't last for long. Switched to a 1 PA/ 2 Beam build - and while better, still you spend too long waiting for charge. Or line up a great shot with the PA, and not having charge to fire it - missing your opportunity. So thinking a 2 burst (or pulse, which will likely be better) is the way to go with the PA. Heat quickly becomes an issue with 3 beams. Even with 2 beams. If you run 2 scbs at the same time, while firing 2 or 3 beams, it can tip it over into heat damage.

1 Beam/ 2 Multicannons works quite well, gives more options for power distribution. But that feels a little too much like an uprated viper (not that that's a bad thing, loved my viper - but I wanted something else this loadout)

spent a couple of hours in a high int CZ with the 2beams/1 PA build here:

I'd fit it for some roaming bounty hunting or assassination missions, but on coming out of a station, I noticed the high in CZ and thought " go on". couldn't be bothered going back in. It was a lot of fun, just wish it had a bit more capacitor. Build could also be optimised for weight, removal of bulkheads, as it took quite a pounding to even get through the shields. (that's something I should do more often, the module damage model being the way it is, but I like thinking my vessel as " military spec" too much...)

To answer your question: yes I think 2 beams draws too much on the capacitor.

I tried two beam lasers and a cannon. Nah, they need too much power. Back to the original loadout. ;-)

I went Sidey->Viper->Cobra->Viper->Vulture->Asp->Courier

The Vulture is my favorite ship but i got tired because it's so easy to fight NPC's. 2Mio CR in one hour easy going... but boring as hell. I wanted to try some new thinks and bought an Asp. But i was used to the 5A thrusters of the vulture and couldn't stand the Asp, so i switched it to an courier. The lateral thrusters are awesome and it's so nice to move sideways without FA/OFF Nice ship, tried with 2xBeam + PA too but same problem. I'll try 2xBurst + MC probably. But i'm not 100% sure if i'll stay with the Courier :/

I've never flown it, but I played a little with it's possible configurations on coriolis.io, and I like the possible specs vs. price. Seems like a good choice for an affordable, stylish little RES hunter. I'll probably get it at some point for some bounty hunting fun, and just hop to it whenever I feel like it (will have to wait since I'm currently in my explorer Asp far from home). I do like how insanely strong you can make the shields. It's a bit crazy when you compare it to clipper shields.. I really think they made them far too weak on that one.

I got a courier for myself reccently. I am using 2 gimbaled Burst Lasers and 1 Railgun. tried it with the the Plasma Accelrator, but the railgun works better for me. Withteh Plasma Accelrator i often miss the power to shoot since it is depleted already from the lasers. For defense i did put a prismatic shield on it. to compensate for the higher weight and powerconsumption of the shield i downgraded 1 of my 3 class A shieldboosters to an E. I even save a half a ton compared to an 2A shield with 3 A class shield booster.

Only downside with that build is the low ammunition capacity of the railgun, but that is something you get used to.
