General / Off-Topic The Culture Thread

I was wondering if anyone had any links to sources of information, governing eCulture through social media and technology based channels.

Looking to gather a high level understanding, of what shapes online communities and the ramifications of individualistic behaviours, on such communities. Specifically the level of disassociation over paralleled physical interactions.

I'll subscribe to this thread but have to get back to you with detail.

Kewl, appreciated. I've had several exchanges in PM about this sort of thing and it's fascinating for me as I tend to deal with virtual business strategies, from time to time.

Would be great to have a "public" version, that allows general input from those inclined to have an interest in the topic.

I've just started reading "Virtual Culture: Identity and Communication in Cybersociety" by Steven G Jones... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Virtual-Cu...id=1529795912&sr=8-2&keywords=virtual+culture

And have Bryan Miles' book queued, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Virtual-Cu...id=1529795912&sr=8-1&keywords=virtual+culture

Looking to bridge the gap on vBusiness strategies, between a business perspective...and being consumer centric.

Is that the Social Media equivalent, of that course they send you on, if you get caught speeding?

I have not and don't plan to do the course, it was just in one of the course info emails I get now and again. However I don't see how...

"In this course, we’ll investigate and explore the concept of the digital society. We’ll look at how personal values and ethical judgments shape our online participation, and how new technologies can be applied to solve some of the problems we might face. "

... could have any relevance to inappropriate vehicular road-use behaviour. ;)
