The cynical season 3 feature list

  • 3.0: Thargoid Invasion!
    • Thargoid interdictions can take place everywhere now. This time they attack!
    • Thargoid war zones spawn in all human-colonized systems, no place is safe from their wrath.
    • Uncover the mysterious reasons for their invasion by delivering copper and basic medicines to arbitrary Community Goals and reading GalNet!
    • Killed Thargoid ships have a rare chance to drop Thargoid materials required for all-new Thargoid blueprints.
    • 10 new engineers with uniquely new and exciting unlock requirements.
    • The new engineers have reverse-engineered Thargoid technology and can make Thargoid upgrades from Thargoid materials. These start at grade 6 and go up to grade 10, plus provide extra bonuses against Thargoid ships!
  • 3.1: Android-Me
    • After Bio-Me physical presence in your own cockpit and Holo-Me telepresence for multi-crew cockpits, we are proud to announce Android-Me robot presence!
    • Android-Me: temporarily download your consciousness into an android body that looks just like your Holo-Me avatar, and walk around on planets. This also replaces Bio-Me inside the SRV.
    • Explore planetary installations, include all existing planetary ports, from an entirely new perspective. Except the interior of any buildings, as that wouldn't work with just keeping our existing assets.
    • Collect the same and some new engineer materials on planetary and asteroid surfaces.
    • If the Android-Me body is destroyed, your ship will instantly 3D-print a new one for free.
    • Fight all-new battle robots defending planetary bases and random assortments of cargo canisters in the middle of the desert.
    • Beware though, battle robots have powerful touch-EMP ability and will instantly cause your Android-Me body to explode if they come in physical contact with you. Don't get into a melee, and don't ask why they can do that to you but you can't do it to them!
    • Walking inside your own ship, on orbital starports or outposts not included.
  • 3.2: The Andromeda Galaxy!
    • Yes, we said we would stick to the Milky Way, but Andromeda is kind of a hot topic in video games right now. Surprise!
    • Fly into the supermassive black-hole Sagittarius A* which is actually a wormhole to the supermassive black hole at the center of the Andromeda galaxy.
    • Don't worry, you won't get spaghettified (actual scientific term) because we have reverse-engineered Thargoid handwavium technology to allow our ships to withstand the tidal forces.
    • Explore a brand-new galaxy that is mostly just more of the same, settle into the new Colonia II bubble (temporary name) and participate in a series of exciting new Community Goals to decide which player groups can achieve the highest accumulated grind in order to get to control their own star systems.
    • This time it's for real: player-group-owned systems are permit-locked for non members.
    • The top 3 player groups will also have an exclusive engineer placed inside their systems.
  • 3.3: Capital Ships!
    • We heard you, we listened, and we heeded your suggestions. For the first time ever in Elite Dangerous, player groups can earn their right to their own capital ship.
    • Yes, that was a singular but we won't elaborate on whether that means each group can only ever own a single capital ship because we don't know yet, either.
    • Fly a Federal Farragut or Imperial Interdictor as the flagship of your group. We promise an Alliance capital ship but it will probably not get made anyway. Don't even ask about neutral capital ships.
    • Rebalanced capital ships to be much more powerful than ever.
    • Capital ships have full multi-crew capability for up to 4 players, and can launch up to 4 fighters, two NPC-flown and two player-flown.
    • Added new exterior docking facilities for capital ships to all orbital outposts. Maybe later we will also add large landing pads, but probably not.
    • Fixed Thargoid interdictions reusing the same taunt messages as pirate interdictions.
  • 3.4 Mystery Feature!
    • We won't tell you what it is going to be but surely it must be exciting enough for you to give us your money anyway.

"Uncover the mysterious reasons for their invasion by delivering copper and basic medicines to arbitrary Community Goals and reading GalNet"

^^ So true.

And very unfortunately, there is a 90%+ probability that it'll pan out that way XD

Season 3: Hypernova

Features:

-Full Time Survival Mode-

Find new ways to keep yourself alive as you flee the painfully bright 500 light year wide expanding ball of obliteration that was once human civilization.

-New Synthesis-

Harvest rocks to make every necessity you would once have purchased from starports and outposts.

-Bonus Feature-

No more docking.
Ever.

Note: instancing is much improved in this release, as the utter erasure of the BGS and a few million systems has lightened the server load considerably.

Sounds more like the concept for a sequel or spin-off. :D

You clearly forgot:

3.01 - Lowering shield values for all ships
3.02 - raising heat values for Shield Cell Banks
3.1.01 - Raising shield values for all ships after everyone went mad in the forums
3.1.02 - lowering heat values for Shield Cell Banks
3.2.01 - Lowering the cap on engineered Shield Boosters to 10 %, but only when you have more than 5 in your ship
3.2.02 - Raising the cap on engineered Shield Boosters to 11 % after violent protests in Cambridge
3.2.03 - Fiddling around with defense-parameters just to close the 10 months gap between 3.2 and 3.3-release
... and so on

3.3.01 - Adding theme parks to stations. Planet Coaster 7 was released successfully and DeLadySigner, Silvarret and Bo created a nice place to stay for our Holo-Us´

*yawn*

OP was just the headlines and initial announcement. Details like that will be announced in a series of livestreams because it would be too easy to quote and reference what was said if it existed in a written form.

if this was real, I would have to cry - tears of desperation and regret..

Unfortunatly this doesn't even sound very off... it could be close to reality. oh ... my ... god NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Assuming there will be four parts to season three, I propose:

3.1: Pew pew pew add-on.

3.2: Some more pew pew pew add-on.

3.3: Even more pew pew pew add-on.

3.4: A lot more pew pew pew add-on.

Because, lets face it, ED really needs MORE pew pew pew. /sarcasm :)

If the next season does not bring atmospheric landings and some improvement to exploration I am quite sure this forum will explode with wrath and tears...

So we are still disabled patients sitting in ships all time?

Sounds pretty realistic to me. None of these features would require a lot effort as all the mechanics are already in place but can be effectively hyped and sold as "new" features and "content" by just using a few other names and assets. The underlying implementation wouldn't need much changes.
