The Darkest System in the Galaxy?

Or one of them at the very least.

Located at the heart of the NGC 6357 Nebula, CL PISMIS 16 is a Spectral Type O Star System that is completely surrounded by thick, dark gas that obscures all but the closest and brightest of stars in the vicinity. Combine the utter blackness of the location, the dark blue glow of the huge sun, and the fact that there is also a black hole just a few thousand LS away from the star, and you get what is the single most claustrophobic and pitch black systems I have ever visited.

There's a location similar really close to the bubble inside a dark gas cloud. The truly dark systems are the Black Hole and Neutron Star systems. Especially close to the galactic rim. It makes scanning targets "interesting" to say the least. Especially the planets with rings. :)

on my current mapping trip to sag a and back to pic tok i did visit this system so it will be on my discovered list but not first discovered when i return

When I was on the Distant World's expedition I was trying to get to Beagle's Point with 100% hull integrity. I came across a very small nebula with only a black hole in it and some planets. All the planets were completely black against the colourful green nebula. I got really close to a black gas giant with rings. As I flew off I dropped out of supercruise because I couldn't see the rings to avoid them. This unfortunately knocked me down to 98%, the only time I took damage on that trip from the bubble.

All this darkness is reminding me of my first exploration trip to the Coalsack. It is quite intimidating to see nothing but black, may head back over there and see if I can find a landable rock :)

Wouldn't you be able to see insane amount of other galaxies there?

From what I recall, not from the system I was in. I actually found there were more stars to see at BP than at that system, which was kinda the opposite to what I was expecting.
