The darkside of planets should be pitch black. Please bring it back.

Beta 3 notes listed the following:

The dark side of planets is no longer pitch black

I think this should be rolled back. It was perfect in beta 2 in my opinion. The darkside of planets SHOULD be pitch black, or at least very, very dark. I always found it goofy how before the darkside would light up out of nowhere unnaturally. Please consider leaving it as it was in the previous version of the beta.

Edit: I meant to post this in Beyond: 3.0 Open Beta General Discussion & Feedback, if a mod could move it there, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

a lot of reaction about it ..
I do not know there must be a reason not to do it, i do not know her.

it may be a technical reason, graphic problem or even scientific.. it seems that the earth would not be completely black when it's night (the earth has an atmosphere this must be the reason), or maybe just to facilitate the missions.

Earth has a reflector called the moon..... by the way, if it was made of cheese, would ya eat it... I would, and wash it down with a tall cold glass of milk....

On topic, it may be due to player time constraints. Some planets would almost be permadark on one side due to astrological conditions. My fingers are just crossed for full multiple source lighting support at some point....

They should be realistically dark depending on the natural light levels.. To compensate this they should have better lighting systems on buggies and ships..

There were some people in beta complaining that the dark side of planets was to dark and they should make them lighter because they couldn't find stuff. In fact just before the update I crashed into the side of a mountain, but it was beta and I wasn't taking as much care as I do in live on dark planets, however my clumsiness shouldn't be an excuse to argue for lighter dark sides. On the odd occasion I have come across those instance rendered bases on a really dark planet, all lit by the glow of floodlights, it was brilliant, this little base all alone in the dark, really atmospheric stuff!

And yes on earth the atmosphere does scatter light a great deal, we have twilight, which wouldn't exist on a planet with no atmosphere, and even the little starlight we get on a moonless night gets scattered so that a lot of shadows aren't completely black, although they may appear black to our poorly night adapted vision but owls can manage fine. On most airless planets and moons areas that don't get direct light from a moon or the sun should appear black to us, light scattering from reflective rocks may in some circumstances provide light, but simply not enough for the dark side to appear dimly illuminated, so black is probably more correct than dimly lit.

I like it, it adds to the mystery, skill and danger out there in the deep black.

The dark side of planets should have realistic levels of light, the ship & SRV lights should also have realistic levels of light. Seems to me that in 3.0 beta3 everything just got the gamma turned down rather than the actual light level.

You have a point where such headlights will be useful again, SRV should also have headlights on the weapon tower as well :)

Agree - the headlights, at the very least, need to be buffed. Multiple spotlights for landing on the dark side gets a +1.

Yea but gets real bad when mining, when it gets dark and the middle mining and you got good rock to dig with that has a good output and you cant leave.

I would like it to at least be comparable to darkness you get in an asteroid field when you find yourself on the wrong side of the planet. Yes it would make thinks hard, but at the same time more realistic. and just like asteroids, you have to make sure you leave the rez site before it gets dark. it's about management :)

Agreed I love that atmosphere when it gets dark in the asteroid ring, but the ships need more spot lights to navigate.
