The Declaration

The point is that you might as well be taking a pledge never to steer away from asteroids. If you can avoid death, it makes no sense not to, and chances are, when it comes down to it, you'll turn tail like anyone else instead of letting yourself get fried.

So you want to RP being a complete idiot, one that's borderline suicidal? Because that's what you're saying.

wheres that negative rep button? No its a play style choice that I am asking like minded Commanders to make themselves known, like I said some people make up rules for their Commanders (iron man, or what I had listed previously as an extra in game challenge you set yourself). You don't like/agree with it fine, but don't act like an ignoramus and start name calling just because YOU don't like it/want to challenge yourself in that respect.

It's fine that you want to do that. It's fine that you want to make a thread about it. Don't take it so personally when people who rightly think it makes no bloody sense ask you what you're thinking.

Big difference between not agreeing and stating why, and posting repeatedly "stupid, idiotic," ect. I have no problem if you don't agree, or maybe have a better idea for your own personal play rule set, this was to find like minded commanders not have the thread derailed by people who have the inability to post anything constructive.

OP

If and only if you intend to start over with a complete new character any time your ship is destroyed in combat, then I appreciate your style.

But if what you're saying is that you intend to pick a series of suicide fights where you'll either "die" - only with no special consequence to yourself or triumph, well, so what? There's nothing particularly brave about that. If you're playing for keeps, iron-man style, and then you're fighting to the death on top - now that would be something. ^^

The game doesn't tell you how to play it. It doesn't give the player any kind of linear of objectives outside of the Pilot's Federation ranks and naval progression. Past that, it's entirely on the player to create their own objectives and style of play. OP is doing it right.

My only suggestion would be to better delineate what does, and does not, constitute a "fight to the death". Other than the obvious condition of, y'know, dying ;)

I'm sorry. I have tried so hard to resist this, but..

I hope that clears it up. "To the death" is for lightweights.

Are you not opening yourself up to be being abused by players that will take advantage of this declaration?

They will engage you if they find you knowing you will not flee if they have the advantage but as soon as they have no more shield cells they will flit off.

I suggest you amend your declaration to apply only against CMDR that also have taken this pledge.

I can't lie I'm not that hardcore (yet!) merely just a way for me to keep pvp interesting and to always make sure I have numerous insurance buys, now if I pvp myself down to a sidewinder again then I probably will restart a new save and make it iron man rules, This is my 1st commander so I'm more learning and trying everything out while trying out different rule sets.

Any Princess Bride reference deserves 100+ rep (one of the best novels/movies ever)

No, I just target FSD over the power plant, I'm in a nicely decked out Vulture I can tango :D (I use dual c3 gimballed beam lasers, so when I get someone down to around 20-30% shields I do a few hard turns to let the lasers recharge then go full duration, normally I can damage the fsd enough to make it malfunction giving me a better chance on keeping them in the killzone.)
