Engineers The desparate grind for Unexpected Emission Data

Hello,

I need Unexpected Emission Data.

https://inara.cz/galaxy-component/95/ says that I will get it from combat ships in boom and election systems. It's not even a rare data it's a standard one. So I flew to Boom systems into the high level combat zones. I didn't fought I only tried to scan as much ships as possible - logged out, rinse and repeat. I started in the middle flew backwards until the ships are locates on a small area and started to scan from the mission board to max the efficiency. I scanned litterally hundreds of ship. I got a massive amount of data but only 3 times an Unexpected Emission Data.

Do I something wrong? I spent yesterday 4h with only 3 times of Unexpected Emission Data.

nope, that's pretty much it. i go trading in boom systems and scan any system security anaconda of dangerous and elite rank from sc. i also jump into enconded USS for private data beacons. Unexpected Emission Data spawns very rarely. searching for it can be frustrating - make a habit out of scanning high ranked system security vessels in systems you are not allied, to collect a stash (i currently have 17).

I get mine (and many other data/micro materials) from flying around Jupiter in Sol. However, this method should work around any large (non-landable) planet in most of the largely populated systems. But so far, I have found Sol to be the best.

What you do is you fly in supercruise to the planet and fly in close until the gravitational forces are limiting your speed to 200km/s. But not too close! You should be able to fly at full throttle and still have your speed automatically limited to 200km/s. So that I can maintain the correct distance and speed, I keep the outer edge of the Planet's atmosphere in the top part of my screen.

USS's should pop up very quickly and very close in front of you. This means you can slow down and jump into them very quickly. If they are not popping up then press your target selection button just in case you have another target selected (i.e. one that you are not aware of). In fact, if you press your target selection button every now and again USS's should appear more frequently.

There will be many varieties of USS's, so only select the types that you want and fly past the others. Don’t forget to de-select the USS when you fly past it.

For unexpected emission data you need the USS type Convoy threat level 3 or higher. Here you will drop down just behind a military convoy of up to seven ships. Scan them all. Sometimes you will get the data.

In my opinion this is a very quick method of finding USS's because the drop down time to the USS location is normally only a few seconds.

Good luck CMDR! o7

when you guys say scan ships...

do you mean , just select it and scan it like you normally do to see if its wanted or not? i never notice getting any data from that?!

Scan deadly/elite level combat ships. I got unexpected emission data by heading to the nearest comp. nav beacon and killing everything - so I got some bounty along with the data. It's a rare drop though.

1: Go to Quince system ( millerport)
2: get a couple planetary scanning missions ( you dont even need to jump in and out of open/solo for stacking honestly *1* mission will do! )
3: get a sidewinder if you are not rich cause lots of PvP players and you might die.
4: go to OPEN play ( more search sites spawn for other players not related to your mission )
5: as you approach the planet ( or your search site ) keep an eye out you often see 1 or 2 more *search sites not related to yours that are with in 2-10KM from your site ) ( hence why the open play )
6: go to ALL the search sites and scan 1 or 2 data points per site

I got 9 unexpected emission data in the matter of 2 hours. you also get all the other data stuff you need.

Much easier to get from satellite scans in space installations. You are flying to one of the installations and after scanning the satellite you are doing relog and scan again.

You will find a list of installation locations here in "Installations" Bookmark :

This is really the best way I've found too. My favorites are the military installations near Topaz in Facece and Homeland in Beta Hydri which have 3 satellites. Just switch between open & solo then rescan.
