Newcomer / Intro The Diamondback scout does have a use

I've always derided this ship as pretty useless for anything, but after a few tests I've come to the conclusion that it's the best starter combat ship. Against the other two main contenders, the Cobra and the Viper, it has one significant advantage, and that's that it can nearly always fire all its gimballed weapons at once, while as the larger weapons on the Viper only fire in a slightly nose up attitude, the same as the Cobra's small weapons. Apart from that, anecdotally, it seems to be easier to control the ship. Overall, it just seems to be more newb-friendly, plus it has the extra two utility slots, so you can have double chaff, KWS and a point defence or heatsink launcher, or you can have shield boosters.

Recently we took 2 vettes and a stealth DBs into some hcz. The DBs only took damage from bumping into his wing mates (or vice versa) and was the last to need to go back to rearm/repair. Of course it didnt actually kill much, but I was amazed it lasted more than 10 seconds.

Hull tank stealth DBS is so much fun. Although this combat style isn't useful against NPCs (but god do I wish it were) it's still fun to try.
And I smuggle in it. Roleplaying the silent running smuggler even though, again, it's not really how the game works.

I always liked the idea of a stealth builds. After all, Isinona's very first video is what convinced me to try the game. And then killed silent running as a gameplay mechanic. Boo Frontier. It's the one betrayal I'm never gonna forgive.

In any case, DBS is fun and out of all 2M-2S ships she's my second favourite (after AspS)

DBS used to be the coolest running ship until the dolphin got coolbuffed. But the dolphin doesn’t have good hard points so DBS is still the coolest running combat ship.

The DBS has been amazing for years. It's got e decent distributor, an oversized power plant for its size, great heat management (especially combined with efficient PACs and railguns with superpen and feedback cascade), fantastic speed and a great turn rate.

I wish its translation thrusters were stronger, but you can't have everything.

It makes me sad that there are so few good paint jobs for it.

Stealth or no, you're not going to aggro ships in one alongside all those large and huge hardpoints. Try it in a HazRES against small and medium ships. It's simply brilliant fun.
