The diary of a Pilot

Hey guys,

Ever since a buddy of mine showed me Elite: Dangerous I had a basic idea about starting to write down a small Roleplay diary about the life in the Frontier as a pilot.
I don't really know if there is already something out there and if any of you would like to read stuff like that.
Let me know if you like the idea and if you have any suggestions about starting it.

But be aware, since english isn't my first language there might be some rhetoric and grammatical hickups and major mistakes in there. :eek:


PS: I just found out that this is the wrong sub forum. :( Can a mod maybe move it?

Had the same idea, though it was more like short notes and the occasional screenshot. Notes you can later search through (so not on paper) for useful information. I'm holding off on it till the December release, though. Maybe.

I'm currently around Cosi.
Right now I'm sort of planning the whole process of writing. Getting hints for it etc.
Once the Game is released I will start writing the diary, hopefully every day or two a text with screenshots. :D
At the moment I have a background in my mind that I will use for the Character.
But interaction with players will be one part of the whole experience. :D

Oh god its Happ. Hey buddy, we shall have to get together sometime and get a good roleplay going. I've been contemplating this for a while, as well.

I've been considering something similar to this and am intending to hold off until release to see what features I'll have at my disposal to incorporate into my narrative.

I probably won't be updating as often as the OP though.

Ha! I started my "Captain's Log" without even seeing this thread!

I, obviously, also think this is a great idea. It is, in my mind, like blogging from inside the game world. Since i'm talking about things I, the Player, am actually doing, I don't have to come up with "fake" events - the game is rich enough to provide things to hang my personal story off of. Or I, and we, wouldn't be playing it!

Anyway, I don't have any specific plans wrt how often I update the Log, and really it is totally dependant on out-of-game time constraints. But i'm enjoying it so far. And would enjoy reading other Commands logs too!

I do like the idea of having images to go along with the Log - i need to play with taking in-game shots, that would be awesome! I'm finding it hard enough to write down and keep track of where i'm going, what i'm doing, as it is. :) Too wrapped up in doing it, to note it down. I am having some flash-back memories, as i have paper with hastily hand-written notes beside my HOTAS setup, with routes, station names and commodities littering the page. I did almost exactly the same thing in '84 for the original. Crazy, but still fun and engaging, if not a lot more so. Sadly my ability to play for hours on end, like in the responsibility less days of my youth, are far behind me. So i eke out a few hours, if i'm lucky, after the offspring are asleep, and greatly enjoy whatever time I get to play.

Shameless plug aside, I've been playing with the thought to keep a log and develop a story with the context that Elite will give me. Haven't started playing yet though, I was waiting for a fix for the bounty/reputation thing and by the looks of it Christmass came early!
