The Difference Between Triangle and Squares on Scanner?

CMDRS,

I should probably know this by now... whats the significance between squares and triangles on your radar/scanner? Most of the time, CMDRS show up as hollow squares, but every now and then, I see a hollow triangle. I assume this also happens with NPC's, but I haven't noticed. I use a modified HUD coloring, so I don't see the difference between white and green, although I do see red... but I would guess the shape difference would mean something other than friendly and neutral, since color is used to differentiate that.

Cheers,
Wombat

True, cant be hardpoints deployed then, unless they have their scanners deployed?

I thought it was triangle for fighters and squares for everything else.

Triangle in SC is also hard points deployed, but they're limited to discovery scanners and interdictors (at least I think they are).

I sort of miss FE2's mass color coding, but not enough to stress over it :)

AFAIK there's no reason to deploy hardpoints in SC. I'm guessing it's people with hardpoints deploying on shoot.

When you initiate a system discovery scan, don't your hard points come out too ?
I have auto deploy hardpoints off. If they ever deploy without me pressing the "deploy hardpoints" button it would be a bug. I don't really know if I'm showing as a triangle or a square though.

I'm pretty sure there's no reason to press the deploy hardpoints button. Scanner doesn't need it, interdictor doesn't need it.
