The disaster that is our bookmarks !!!!

Just BMing WP5 and all the touristy POIs before it(May I say what a fantastic thread ,that is our itenerary, the DW2 team have created, https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...of-Discovery?p=7106451&viewfull=1#post7106451) .
I rename the BMs to realistic names like Death Spiral etc. not just system name, but when you hover over the map your bookmarks show as original system name !!!
Limit on Bms, are they still less than 150?
Why can't we have colours ?
Why can't we have folders ?
Why can't we have some sort of method of distinguishing various BMs so that they all don't look the same on the Galmap ?

Even just one of the above would be fab, and we've asked FD ever since they gave us BMs, but to no avail.
This is a fantastic game that is,and always has been, held back by poor QOL choices(yes yes I know DB is famous for being a minimalist, but that's a poor excuse)

Onwards to Gagarin Gate !!!! :)

Yeah, groups or even tags and a filter would be heaven sent.

Right now, the only way to keep stuff together is to name it something like: DW2 - WP5 - Polo Harbour which I don't really like.

I sort my bookmarks by putting a non-alphabetic character in front of the name. I.e "#_ _ this star" appears above "#_ that star" and both appear above ". Yon one" etcetera.
Where _ represents a space. The forum deletes double spaces. :(

i personally love how you have to navigate to the bookmark in question to edit it / delete it, i mean whoever came up with that UI was a flipping Genius, no one in the history of Elite would want to change that brilliant & sophisticated way of handling bookmarks.

i often get a pinata out and party poppers every time i think about editing them just because i know how much fun it will be traversing 60kly between bookmarks YAY!

Yes they could do with some work. Nice to have as we didn't used to have any, but some management tools would be nice.

I'd be happy just with an increase in bookmark allowance! 150 goes in a flash, then you're into deleting older ones which you may still want.

Surely it cant be that much or a resource hog that we can only have 150?

As do I , but my gripe was solely about the BMs on the Galmap itself(not the BM names on the left). All look the same and still have original name(not the new name we changed it to).

Could do with a cap increase. I hit the limit halfway to WP4. I've had the game a long time, lots of waypoints, POIs and personal finds to bookmark. Now I keep having to delete stuff.

I'm doing exactly the same. Choosing names like 01_Homebase and 02_Blackmarket. This quite sorts it, used to do that since windows 3.1 :D
There is also a workaround for BM's to identify them. Just pick them on the galaxy map, plot a route and you will find this BM in your list because it has the route-plot-symbol on the right.

But i have to say, OP is right in his suggestion.
Some blue, red or green BM's for sorting things would be nice, also 150 BM's is really very limiting. I'm running DW2 with my last 5 BM's left. I mark some systems around my field i like to visit and can only make 5, visit them, delete them before i can continue

Some tabs at the top of the bookmark page would be nice for different catergories. Which we can fill in ourselves.

Flimley

Agreed. That's one of the very cool things about Squadrons (you can rename ranks) and an A, B, C over the bookmark icon might be a better bet than coloured icons (colours already have association to things, eg. red is used for ship storages).

I'd hardly call bookmarks a disaster but some management of them would be very useful. Maybe selecting (or mouse hover) a system containing boomarks, lists the bookmarks in there, saving a trip to the system map. Bookmark to map referencing is pretty easy, if you name them well, but referencing from the map back to the bookmark reference (doable through the system map) is trickier.
