The Distant Worlds Educating Ed Special - 60,000 LY from home - 7PM BST 7th April 2016

Hi everyone,

I legitimately made this trip using the account I owned before I started at Frontier, so this one is going to be pretty unique.

It's been a long trip, and these last few jumps will be memorable and (hopefully not too) dramatic

"It started on the 14th January, and now, 23 key stops along the way and more than 60,000 Light Years traveled, the Distant Worlds Expedition is about to reach its final destination - Beagle Point.

Ed will be making the final approach at around 7PM BST, celebrating the amazing feat these 1000+ Commanders have achieved.

Make sure you join us on our official YouTube channel at 19:00 BST on Thursday April 7th."

Looking forward to it Ed and congratulations. I'm planning on a crazy idea, that might even see me seeing you around when you're going to leave or just on your way back ;)

It sounds crazy! I've been jumping for about 60 hours... I hope you realise that!

I think my initial estimations may have been off, but Elan did it in 34 hours in an Ana, you're in an Asp Scout and I'll be in the trusty Asp Explorer. Going to do the Sag A* run first, then out to Beagle, if I can do it in 36 I'll be more than happy. I have to get out there and back before Beta hits (2nd week of May? ;)) that's why it's crazy :D

Ed, I know you arn't doing questions but I'd love to know roughly how many of the Dev team have decided to get involved in this? I know yourself and at least 2 others were jumping along with the fleet (more or less)!

I've actually made time for this one so I will see you tomorrow rather than on catch-up, maybe even in-game :)

Can you put a unique statue or what not on one of the planets out there, make it known where it is, and it can be the official marker or what not?

A flag or solar powered hologram or what not? I'm sure you can design one to project a 65k from SOL point.

Ed, a quick question; will you be in Open?

<*turns slowly, continues polishing C3 Beam Lasers, whistling softly while admiring the view of the galaxy from Beagle Point thinking: 'it would be a shame to go all this way armed to the teeth and not letting someone pay for, well something...' *>

Lots of respect for making this as your first exploration journey. Hope both your mental as your ship's condition is not too deteriorated.

Safe landing! o7

First, let me say you deserve a great deal of respect for making this arduous journey. Especially in such a short range ship! 60 hours?! Holy mother of.... I believe the current record is just under 24 hours to beagle point with an optimal build and jump technique. An extra dose of respect for not taking the "easy" way!

Just to put everyone in the know.

Salome made an appearance during the stream, and gave Ed some exploration data of great importance.

Apparently Ed is going to need some "good luck" on his journey home !

Apparently all of this is legit ED lore !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you misinterpreted that, she didn't give him any data.

Congratulations for making it to Beagle Point, Ed! That's a great achievement! And thanks to Frontier for creating that sweet DW decal as a reward for us, that was a very, very cool surprise!

Well done. Very inspirational. A friend, who also playa ED, and I are planning our first deep space mission. This game is a truly amazing space sim.
