The dogs bark, but the caravan goes on

I usually find GalNet boring and irrelevant to what I'm doing in the game. If there is something major in there, usually the forum or OA will mention it. I'm more interested in system traffic reports, faction states, CMDR bounties, etc. Even these could use some love, perhaps by showcasing the top 5 CMDRs turning in bounties, combat bonds, search and rescue, exploration data, etc. in each system. Why is it only the "bad kids" get all the attention?

LOL, literally no single clue in the galactic wide broadcasting system about the tremendous effort of allied anti xeno forces cleared more than 10 systems in incursion per week. AXI, HIVE, Vampyr Ponys, Esquadron Castigador, Torgue Company and many independent commanders have wiped 20+ incursions in last two weeks. The inhabited bubble set in fire by thargoids has been almost cleared, I’ve lost the count of how many hydras were killed in AXCZs despite the bugs, desyncs and instancing issues but nobody in FD is aware of this. Or simply don’t care.
Who cares if FDEV notices you and gives you a pat on the bottom? Play for the enjoyment of you and yours.
It is hard to enjoy anything if it is questionable if it will make any difference. Especially in the big announced "Thargoid storyline". How much do you like games, were you feel you aren't making any progress?

Wars last for decades, especially if neither sides invade each other. Small skirmishes is all we have so far.

The problem as I see it is this... we, the players, the PF commanders... in our tiny ships, usually with one human aboard... we're unimportant.
Unlike other hero games and space games, Elite doesn't actually try to change that. It doesn't try to make us the heroes. Of course, that doesn't stop the calls to be able to personally own planets and navies, but we're just sole traders, pirates and wanderers. Unless we happen to be carrying something they want, then why should the Thargoids even bother with us? They know by now we're not completely harmless, so why would they track us down for a quick one-on-one to the death? When they attack, they attack stations, naval convoys... and they do so with overwhelming force.

We, the commanders... we're a waste of their time.

Worst thing is that thargoids were supposed to be the secret and surprise content for 2.4 the last "episode" of season 2. Fiasco! I can't remember how long players have been asking for attacked stations in real time... We had the gnosis during an exploration expedition attacked in real time and still not a combat scenario... Tbh I'm happy if fdev does not invest too much on thargoids development and instead for the next big dlc they release atmospheric worlds with more exploration contents...
