The double click of death.

Read the forum and saw a new cg was up, I thought kool, haven't done one in ages.
Closed the forum and fired up the client, the misses walks in as I click the continue button. We chat for a minute and when she leaves I look and see I'm at my station.
Pulled out my shieldless cutter, I always play in solo and pg and jump to it. After 5 runs I've been interdicted twice by npc's. No problem. Submit, boost and I'm away.
Interdicted again. Same scenario. Submit, fly a straight line boost a couple times and. Jesus Palomino. Lookit all the fire. I look down and see a wing of three cmdr's behind me. I stopped boosting and let them destroy me and have a good laugh.
Lesson learned. Don't double click the continue button. You go right to open mode. LMAO

Maybe I'm a product of my timezone, but open just doesn't seem that dangerous to me.

Mind you last night I was coming back from a war, and noticed that I don't have voting rank with Mahon at the moment, so I headed into Gateway intending to swap out to the T9 to haul some Forts.

And there's this unpledged dude dangerous and clean in a Cobra wandering around the system.
So I line up an interdiction to ask him: 'sup dude?
And he disappears.

I drop in on his low wake and there he is poottling over to some wing of triangle NPCs so I swing around in front him, deploy weapons and open a chat.

"Hi, I notice you are unpledged."
"Hi" [bumps his Cobra into my Krait - drops a ring of shield and 18% of his hull] "Oops sory - not v good at this game"
"I am weapons hot and I need to explain a couple things to you:
"1) This system is the capital of the Alliance . . .

And at this point the little dude got bored and ran off after his NPCs.

And I didn't pull the trigger. And I didn't hit boost.
And I didn't just kill the brat.

I scanned one of the NPCs he was killing and they were "Gateway Organisation" which is a faction I don't like so he's not running missions against the AOS.
So I think he was genuinely clueless and harmless. I'm sure he has no idea how close he came to staring at a rebuy wondering what just happened.

I dunno, if you're nose to nose a ship called the "Cyco Star-Pig" - Weapons Deployed and locked on your powerplant and you just took a 10% hull bleed from scratching yourself on a spike; (That's two plasmas three frags all G5'ed out the wazoo.)

Wouldn't you stop and talk your way out of it?

Why in Braben's name are you using the single most ungankable ship in game this way?
Put on a 6A shield or better and some A-rated boosters and you have more shield strength then a PvP FdL.
Put on dirty drags and you fly double the speed of reverb torps, basically the only thing that can be dangerous to you in this situation.
You don't even have to high-wake in a Cutter except when there is another Cutter attacking you, because you have the highest mass-lock-factor in game.
And you still have 720+ tons of cargo space.
You don't even have to gid very gud to escape in a Cutter.
Why? sobs

That's not a double click of death, there are lots of other things that killed you which you could've prevented.

A Bottle of Chloroform - a cloth - a cupboard under the stairs - 10 seconds of chloroform = 45 mins of peaceful gaming time ::: 20 seconds = 90 minutes.. I personally would keep going for the 45 mins option.. if you love your wife I would definitely suggest the 45 mins option. im unsure how many times you can do it safely. I think I need to watch "Jeff Bridges The Vanishing" again.. just to be sure on the timings..

omg... the ideas ones mind forms in order to have more game time.. o7
