The Down Side of New Terrain Models

The only problem I see is the LOS.

I hope those surface features don't load as you come closer to them. FD please remember we have 16 or 32 GB of RAM plus 8 GB GDDR5 dont nerf it because of consoles.

If they really want to bring that concept art into the game then they are going to need a proper collision system.

Looks like there's hope. Proper collisions are really needed up in space, too.
 
One of the downsides I see, is something that is currently in game. Having a surface outpost whose data point you have to scan, appearing on the side of a cliff. The outpost is half embedded into the cliff and there is pretty much no way to get to the data point.

Even No Man's Sky didn't have a problem with this. Each base just needs to either modify the terrain, or have a big enough platform to land on, or both.
