THE DWELLER - bug ---> Solution for the problem

Greetings!

One of my wing members found a solution for this problem with unlocking The Dweller today!

Here is what he wrote:

Engineer Dweller update. He does work if you use the following method:
1. Get illegal cargo
2. Sell it on a black market.
3. Log out and log back on in a different group ( open solo or private)
4. He should update

Just tried myself...and it really works!!

Special thanks to Snowbeard!!

Thanks Qglfang for passing this on.
Step 3 may not require board hopping. Just log off and on again.

Point one. Get illegal cargo. That includes stolen cargo. I spent a little time in nav beacons and res sites killing bad guys and scooping there cargo.

No, just having illegal cargo will not work. It has to be 'stolen'. It can be stolen tea or stolen slaves, doesn't matter the type, just the state of the cargo.

Not true, you can buy slaves from a system that sells the legally and then sell them in systems where it is illegal (Use outposts, they do not have system security normaly)

And what is being done is an Exploit... and is against the CoC and goes against the mechanics of the game, it can get you banned

Are we talking about the same thing? I'm talking about using stolen cargo and selling it on the black market to unlock an engineer, all within the game mechanics, not sure what you are referring too.

Easiest way to get stolen cargo is:

Go to your least favorite agent, make sure station has an active black market. Take a one way transport mission and dismiss the mission. Cargo will stay as stolen in your hold. Sell it. Rinse and repeat five times. Unlocked.

Pay off the penalty and be ready to take some minor faction standing loss.

As long as the cargo is illegal and you sell it to a black market it will count towards the dweller, as the same as stolen etc :) My way you just wont lose rep by dropping a mission :) its all good and works

And I misunderstood the part about logging, as its just to update the dweller standing my apologies :) I do notice that the Dweller standing seems to Lag by one every time you turn something in

my twopennyworth.

To unlock the Dweller, I ended up selling black market goods from 5 different 'legitimate' sources to 5 different black markets. I bought a full cargo hold of personal weapons from a commodities market that legitimately sold them and then sold them on at a station where they were regarded as illegal and therefore needed to be traded in the black market.

Even then, after the fifth market trade, nothing popped up immediately. It took 10-15 minutes of doing other stuff before it popped. By the time it popped, I was in a different station and doing other things. There does seems a timelag after you have completed the criteria before the invite comes through.

I did pick up 'stolen weapons' from one particular kill, but I don't think it affected my count as I still had to do the 5 normal black market trades before the invite popped.

Yeah. I made sure I've gone to different markets and I also bought personal guns in one area (legal) and sold in other area (illegal). I also picked up cargo / stole cargo ...etc and i use "not visited" in star map to make sure i go where i have not been. I notice some of my stats do not update ( shows I've only been to 4 black markets and my play time is stuck at 7.29 hrs and i've been on since release). I wonder if that is part of the issue ?[blah]

OK. I filled up with personal guns (legal) and went to 5 new black markets and sold them (illegal sectors) . While only 1 registered (?) it was all i needed and am on my way to the dweller right now.

I look back on this thread, wondering what someone would say if they saw this thread and didn't know it was a video game...
